So Skyreign is Sky Lynx Hound Wheeljack Trailbreaker Ratchet. Phil will be along with pictures in a few hours. (They're too fuzzy now that I don't feel bothered with a link or posting them. Better ones will probably be up when he's awake and I'm not) I don't feel too bothered with this. Had they done more, or all limbs as different characters, then I'd probably go for it. But $100+ for yet *another* wrong Ratchet? Meh. Though I wish they'd announced it months ago, I'd go for it, skip the hasbro release, and just snag Smokescreen. Ratcht: Bang on. Bar the head ;-) Seems (though see later) to have Rook's Jaws of Life which is a sensible accesory. Black rather than clear blue accessories.  But he's not the only one who's changed. Hound looks very similar but note he's got an axe in one photo and the gun in the other. EDIT: Actually the gun's in both, it's shoulder mounted in robot mode.  Sky Lynx looks very similar but has swapped grey for red on the sword  Trailbreaker has added more silver. Red plastic on the upper limbs is now grey  Wheeljack has got back all the pieces that were black on his Hasbro prototype and gained the black paint pps on the lower arms we all wish he'd had first time  There's enough here to make me want to upgrade. You know, I think I prefer the Hasbro versions of all of those.
Hasbro Wheeljack alone is rubbish, but with the reprolabels he's actually pretty amazing. That one doesn't feel incomplete like Hasbro's, but it does feel off, with a head too dark and the cartoony blue windows.
Trailbreaker, the red contrast on the hasbro is just a bit more appealing.
Hound is a bit of a sidestep. But I don't like the use of yellow.
Ratchet has no valid counterpart (custom class is NOT a valid exclusive/release), so there's nothing to compare.
Skylynx is a massive sidestep. Neither is objectively different enough to be better or worse. Do like the red sword things though. Does his tail better.

Hasbro wj can be repainted as slicer, or that g2 scheme. Just leaves me with duplicate trailbreaker, may hoist or more lazilly mw hoist and hound, no idea.

I'd certainly love a Ratchet to go with the other chaps, but repeat buying that whole set to get him? Prob not. Not with Takara's cartoon colour affliction.
Mind you that's probably still cheaper than buying the custom class one. I assume this is the same head as the custom class one?
Hasbro! When you redo May Mayhem as November Nonsense to put Groove out again, we'd like a proper case assortment please with Blast Off and Ratchet too. Tidy it all up. If you want four for a wave, I'm sure you can recolour one of the Takara Technobots into something fun too.

I GENUINELY don't see why Hasbro can't keep this going through online retailers. BBTS, HasbroToyShop, Captured Prey, TFSource.
I mean most adult collectors sick of idiotic PoS created distibution problems likely skip box retailers altogether at this point.
I mean sure, you can't go indefinitely, but there are a few more left that could be done, that really aren't prime for a retail wave, or a box set, but are still wanted, none the less.
Free from box retailers, they no longer need to conform to specific case assortments, nor do they need to make sure every limb belongs to a specific combiner.
Thus they're free to put out Starscream, TC, and Skywarp, without worrying about same mold overkill in one wave, or without worrying about making a torso or a fourth limb, to make a complete combiner.
