I think the thing I'm struggling with is how Arcee, a similar product with similar distribution, was initially £20 cheaper than that. And still is £10 cheaper.
ToyJedi on eBay in the UK wan £60 for it.
So I'm guessing there's a reason but would like to know what it is!

Phil's right. This is totally different to Slugslinger. Kapow aren't going to stock a toy that will lose them money, and every three Slugslingers sold meant them being saddled with five others that wouldn't sell, even discounted. You'd have thought Grotusque would come the same route as Arcee, so an extra twenty quid seems like gouging. I also don't like the 'take your whining elsewhere' in the Facebook comments. Great way to treat your customers. I don't see any other retailer behaving like that.
I'd rather buy from Robot Kingdom than give Kapow anything, or wait for ID. I'd be happy to give them fifty quid because they're a great seller. It's also worth remembering this toy has been sighted in TRU's database. It's not like this is the *only* way to buy it.

There does seem to be some difference between this and Arcee. Arcee was relatively easy to get hold of in the US, it was announced well in advance and there have been multiple opportunities to buy it. Grotusque, got announced and immediately put on sale and lasted all of 3 hours.
If Kapow had to pay full retail or above to stock it then I can see how this is the price they reached, but I'll take my chances on it having to get another run at some point. I cant imagine this small run can justify the level of remoulding that went in to it.

That's a very good point. Whole new upper body; it will at least make TRU. As Phil pointed out, this figure has more remoulding than anything in the boxed sets.

Slugslinger is now listed on the Smyths website as well with availability date to be confirmed. They've been good with the last few like that so gives us hope that'll show up as retail.

It's supply and demand. If retailers see they can charge £X for a product and it still sells at that price they'll keep doing it. The only way to change that is to vote with the wallet.
Of course is someone has the spare cash and chooses to spend it they can buy what they like.
I look forward to more £55-60 deluxe sale prices.

£55 does sound high, but if I look back at exclusives I have bought over the years, I paid $100 for United Stepper in 2011, and he isn't nearly so retooled. I don't think I would hesitate so much if Hasbro were clearer about the distribution - if Grotusque were absolutely some kind of limited-run club exclusive then this would not be such a bad price. But there are these hints that he and Arcee will be at general retail, maybe as standard deluxes with fewer paint apps, and it makes me think I might feel foolish if in a few weeks I can walk into TRU and pick them up for €25 each or so.
Not that snazzy packaging, additional titan masters and better paint apps don't count for something!
I hope the demand for these is sending a message to Hasbro, anyway.

I think the message being sent to Hasbro is that the market will pay £55-60 for a deluxe (and additional Titanmaster).

Only if people believe there may only ever be Botcon level production numbers made (and only directly available within North America) and dont want to miss out.

Hasbro need to announce whether or not they are doing a collectors club, and soon, Otherwise the current trend will be having to pay £55 for a Titan Master redecoed as your favourite Micromaster.

I Bogatan is right here. People are willing to pay £55+ for a percieved exclusive. Hasbro could be in a potentially tricky place now, as those that have paid that amount are going to be pretty miffed if he does turn up in TrU...

No one in their right mind will pay that price for a mass release product. If it is an exclusive, as this was perceived to be, then it’s not entirely unreasonable.

You know I've realized something. I've messed around with my TR figures way more than I ever have with my CW.
I think its more variety. Even if you take out the fact that every CW deluxe has ten repaints, they almost all have basically the same transformation. With TR, even the ones that are based on the same engineering (scourge/highbrow/windblade, and triggerhappy/misfire/slugslinger) still manage to have significant differences in their transformation.

Same here! TR has had great fiddle factor.
Good transformations - clever without being over-complicated (Triggerhappy is a joy, as is Topspin), and relatively quick. On top of that, cockpits with little figures that can use them really adds something. It's been a clear big attraction to my daughter.
