On TV shows, snazzy credits are usually at the start if at all, but cinema films rarely delay the start of the movie for an extended opening sequence. Bond movies still do it, and Star Wars. The greatest ever were the Pink Panther openings, which were cartoon shorts in their own rights. But rarely these days. (Did Star Trek drop its tradition of opening music with the re-boot?) However! I have noticed the most welcome growing phenomenon of movies making something of an effort with the first few minutes of the end credits, before going into the boring text roll. The best I can think of is the Iron Man Three retro montage: G.I. Joe: Retaliation gets an honourable mention. Game of Thrones varies the music it plays over its end credits, and was masterful in its judgement at the end of season 3, having complete silence for the credits following the ultimate low point that was the Red Wedding, and then by contrast one of the most beautiful pieces of music I know, Mhysa, for the uplifting season finale itself. The tenth Star Trek film (Nemesis) was the first in the series to move the credits to the back.
