tmukhub.proboards.com/post/333593/threadPlanning permission has set things in motion. I have a new plug for the loft's light as that needs doing. But today has been mainly spent moving books. The Epic Collections have migrated upstairs to the bedroom, so they won't need moving when the Library regenerates into Bathroom II/The Danger Room Because the middle unit of my 3 shelves was now empty, the Essentials have moved up on unit from the far one where I couldn't reach them. A slight snag in that there turned out to be FIVE shelves of them rather than the three I thought! But job done. <screams>The Epics now need to come back DOWN

20 years of backing cards fills a recycling box.
The frightening thing is I don't have half the toys anymore!
There was some joy however.....

Think it's time to start binning modern era toy inserts and flat packing the boxes, loft space is not going well.

For Voyagers and Leaders, yes..... but not sure I can bring myself to do that for the CW boxsets.
Oddly I have gutted the Titan's plastic to use them to store things in

I'm toying with the idea of keeping the Siege boxes, but all packaging for retail TR & PotP figures has gone. CW I'm keeping for now because it's already stored and, well, it's CW. I wouldn't be able to bin box set boxes though, Hasbro or UW, or packaging for exclusives like Nemesis PotP or any of the Legends stuff.

20 years of backing cards fills a recycling box. The frightening thing is I don't have half the toys anymore! Been there, done that. At the moment the only reason I have kept the packaging for my last two purchases (Siege Skytread and Movie SS Thundercracker) is that I'm not entirely sure that I'm going to be keeping them after all. These days packaging doesn't even necessarily make it home (except for Gunpla - need the box to keep all the runners in place until it is built). Karl

TWO recycling boxes of backing cards gone. Kept my BW and CR/RiD plus a few select others. Oddly I didn't want to let go of the cards for the long departed Cybertron Minicons 2 packs. There's also a large pile of toys to be Fu'd. Nick has been warned TWICE now not to bring any "show and tell" next weekend!

The Dutchman who does our odd jobs has been in.
The shelves are now up floor to ceiling behind my door. The DW Novels which have been in storage in boxes since the stairlift was fitted are now on the shelves.

Threw out all the Siege packaging this morning. Lovely boxes, but no space. No going back now - new rule, any open Generations retail toys = boxes in the bin. Packaging stays for exclusives and Japanese imports. Did not want to go that route, but I'm doing a lot of re-evaluating at the moment.

So far it has been just a few SS inserts in the bin and the boxes flattened. I have rearranged in the loft to make more space but it's getting quite silly. I just can't bring myself to do it.

Yep, I'm still being quite ruthless with all my packaging. Cyberverse, all gone. Generations, mostly all ditched, apart from some of the trays which I've kept since they might be useful as photo backdrops. Even all the Studio Series boxes are gone (with the exception of Grimlock's, since he was a 40th birthday present) - although naturally I have been keeping all of the backdrops for photographic purposes.
Likewise I'm only keeping packaging for exclusives or Masterpieces, or really anything that just looks nice. I've kept some of the outer packaging for some of the Prime Wars box sets, but most of those have been flattened, with all the inner trays discarded. I'm doing my best to be good.
The only downside is that some weeks I'll look in the blue recycling bin and see it piled up with Transformers boxes and think that maybe, just maybe, I should curb my spending a little...

Lot of packaging that had survived previous purges junked recently and with new toys the boxes go straight to recycling day of opening. Nowhere to put them. That space is needed for...robots!

For the tale of Operation: Loft of Joy see tmukhub.proboards.com/thread/10395/operation-loft-joy My Thanks again to those involved. But, until we commission another weekend working, it's probably best I continue the story here. At the foot of my bed stand six large plastic tubs of TFs. Regular visitors will recognise them as having previously lived in the library. They need to go in the loft, on the fourth shelving unit whose end and shelves were bought today. The shelving unit they were on in the library is being consumed by Home Education. It is a necessary sacrifice as the previous home ed space will be lost to Electric Chair stuff. However on the library shelves live the four, probably FIVE, folding crates of combiners..... I own every CW combiner, all the exclusives, the boxsets, and all bar 2 of the UW sets. Not 100% sure where these are going. I have however religiously hoarded the boxset packaging so it's possible some may get broken up and reboxed. Some will stay downstairs: Optimus Maximus, Grand Galvatron. Elita-1, who is still a work in progress. Hopefully I can house all the 1986/7 updates down here as well as those. THEN I need to work out where the drawers in the library will go...... At some pt the cupboard in my room with both TR and Legends versions of the same toys may need a purge and some sent upstairs. Again I have religiously kept Legends boxes so most of them could get reboxed to save space, But that then gets me thinking "which do I need" Nick walked off with a few items for the Fu and I've since found some he left by accident, a few more I could give him, and one where I could find neither toy nor box on Saturday. It could well be the Fu gets some more stuff. I looked at the new shelves today. They have made more space but not magically cured the problem. More packaging and more toys will probably have to go :-(

In our sitting room is a large pile of Lego that had been stored in the library. I was surprised how much was in there, especially when the pile doesn't include any of the Star Wars on the shelves or Chima bird/gorilla kits which are in there.
The pile is going upstairs, hopefully into the drawer units we put in the loft last week.
The CW type combiners are in four boxes under my bed. There's slightly too ,any there so I think the CW G2 boxsets, UW Superion, Defensor & Bruticus, CW Sky Reign and one of the Computrons is going to have to go into the loft in their original boxes. They're all effectively duplicates of other combiners so ......
Got so far with this and starting to struggle to see the next steps.

Lego, and the Britains Space that had to be removed from London, safely stowed in the loft by The Boy.
The Lego needs a me trip to be filed properly, but it can wait.

On the Britains Space? Whole bag of those wretched metal end pieces and they weigh a ton.
Oddly they seem to survive rather well.....
Lego filed. Good trip apart from realising the CW boxes are out of reach at the mo and I need those to move combiners up there.

A moment of inspiration in the bath tub this morning has led to a game of musical shelves in the library. All my shelves in the library are set at standard trade height, save for one in the middle unit which houses the HCs below the Epics. So the space under that is slightly less and the things that went into it last night were a tight fit "in the jungle, the mighty jungle" There was space created under the third unit, which mainly houses Essentials, for some books that had come out my bedroom. It suddenly hit me that they did not need quite so much height. So off the shelf above came the outgoing Essentials - they can go on the now spare top shelf, vacated when the Lego boxes went in the loft. The shelf comes down one, the HCs move over. The shelf vacated by the HCs moves up one and, since I can see it will be needed as such, becomes Epic shelf FIVE 1) ASM, Avengers, Black Panther 2) Captain America - Excalibur 3) Fantastic Four - Hulk 4) Marvel Two In One - Silver Surfer 5) Thor - X-Men A couple of the shelves had been bothering me for some time, now all five have about 2+ years of expansion room.
