The original release was really mass market & have lots of new toys released.
But if it was redone - CGI with new voice over work. Same cast, story with errors (the whole Quints finding the Bots innocent which messes up 5 faces of darkness story).
Who would be doing the voice work for the whole cast? What toys would be released - all new toys Generations line
But would you do original cast (Prowl etc) or new characters (Hotrod etc)

Leave the film well alone, it's great as it is.
However a specific Movie Generations line wouldn't be the worst idea ever!

You've not played with the Generations Leader have you Pete?
There's no way they could get a decently featured classic style Magnus down to Voyager size.

If it came down to a Movie line I'd stick Magnus in the "use the current version, no real need to dedo" pile with Springer, Arcee, Cyclonus, Wreck-Gar & Unicron.
Hot-Rod's a borderline. Needs 5mm hands, a 5mm engine hole.
Rodimus Prime, Blurr, Kup, Scourge & Galvatron REALLY need a decent redo.

Leave the film well alone, it's great as it is. I agree - although a 30th anniversary version with some newly animated scenes from those storyboards wouldn't go amiss. Animated them in exactly the same style so that it doesn't jar and perhaps correct some of the animation errors (Unicrons ring overlapping the buildings of Lithone at the beginning being a particular irritation to me). If this was done, I'm not sure if there would be anything else I'd want from this hobby. Oh yes - proper Generations figures of the cast with their proper vehicle modes. (Not sure why this is coming out in the quote box.)

Or if they did the film CGI then they could feature the new toys in the film. Also CGI'ing it we can also see the advancement in toy tech over the years compared to what resources the designers had back in 85.

Repack existing toys in Movie packs -
Generations - Springer, Arcee, Constructicons, DX : Jazz, Prowl, Cyclonus, Rodimus, Scourge, Kup, Blurr, Wreck-gar, Thrust, legends : Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, CliffJumper, Bumblebee, Wheelie, Prowl ? - Metroplex battle damaged - Wheeljack, Windcharger
MP - Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Soundwave (tapes), Prowl, Ironhide, Ratchet, Rodimus
Reissue - Blaster (tapes), Soundwave (tapes), Prowl, Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Galvatron, Starscream, Constructicons, Unicron, Perceptor, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Bombshell, Wreck-Gar, Kickback, Sharpnel, Astrotrain, Grapple, Jazz, Cyclonus, Rodimus, Scourge, Kup, Blurr
New toys - Titan Optimus, Megatron, Galvatron, Ultra magnus, Rodimus, Hotrod
One issue - Megatron gun mode. The only toy we could get released is Legends or a non-transforming one. Don't know which Shockwave. Would Hot Rod be able to be used on the packs?

I wouldn't like that personally - part of what I love about TF The Movie is the nice hand drawn animation. You can appreciate the amount of detail and hard work that went into it.

I agree with you Matt - but does depends if Hasbro decide to save money. Would it cost more to make new set of toys or make a brand new 90 minute cartoon with the animators already knowing what they have to animated & in what way. But I do expect Hasbro to go with those Titan because they seem to be doing Titan for all the lines.

Oops, no, sorry, what I meant to say was I want to go back in time and kill myself before I ever soiled my eyes with any of his sh1t-poor Transformers films. D'oh!

The original TFTM just wouldn't stand up today. About a third of the runtime is songs, so you'd need to get rid of them (what is it with the lack of songs in TF shows anyway?). You also couldn't have Optimus Prime die 20 minutes in and then not come back to life! He'd need to be the main character. Of course, you could change the script back to the original version where Unicron is destroyed by Optimus Prime's vengeful ghost, but eh.
If you get rid of the songs and make the film Prime-centric, then you've pretty much got yourself something way too divorced from the original to begin with. You couldn't make something like that in today's climate. If I could get away with remaking it? Again, eh. Why try and redo something that's already so iconic. I dislike CGI, and for the most part the animation is pretty good.

What Transformers Movie stuff was released over 1986-1987 (comic range #70-110)
Toys - Ultra magnus, Hotrod, Kup, Blurr, Wreck-gar, Rodmius Prime, Galvatron, Cyclonus, Scourge
(Springer, Metroplex, Gnaw)
Comics - Movie comic. Movie #1-3 - collected edition. uk#78-88,101,102.
Books - Movie lady bird book. pop up book, 2 lady bird books
others - 2 cups, wrapping paper, birthday cards, jigsaw puzzles *2
We can see from the above that we didn't really get much stuff.

Which Cyclonus? CW or the previous one? The prospect of a Generations set of the 86 released movie toys is actually quite exciting. Regarding the movie itself, I can see a US Blu-ray release with some new extras on it and possibly some picture restoration (I've got the Australian Blu-ray and it could do with the Restoration Team touch, let alone Stan Bush's) because they don't have one over there, but apart from that I doubt much else would happen.

They could do both Cyclonus - but for CW they'll have to do a new Scourge core body & Sweeps limbs for use with both of them. But Sweeps being light blue. Then they could do a CW Wreck-gar core body (but this not being direct from the film just Hasbro cashing in). But main point on this thread with being 2016 next year with the film release 1986.
Maybe a CW team could be done to form Unicron?

Would anyone try to get Eric Idle to sign the Movie DVD? Anyone tried? Eric is a nice chap but I'm not sure he would sign it. Somebody in the US must have tried.
edit: could send UKTV Dave channel an e-mail for show idea. Send Dave Gorman over to try & get Eric to sign a copy of the DVD.

Without watching The Movie or going on any website to check details - just from memory. Can you quote all Cyclonus lines from the film from being created by Unicron to - what was the last scene he was in, in full shot would be on Junk but may have been in the Unircon battle where the animation does go quick.

Yep - apparently that line is Cyclonus in the script and is delivered by his voice actor. It just so happens a Sweep comes into view and pops his head up at the time.

That's the scene but with the animation it makes you think he had no lines. No matters if you watch it you still think its the Sweep talking.
