Damn that's nice looking. I recently checked out some of the new Diaclone stuff, and nabbed one of the power suits in the recent Kapow sale. Great fun little toy. I've got my eye on the Dia Battles now, and that bigger powered suit looks like it might make my list.

Being new to the Diaclone Reboot stuff it’s the customisation that really calls out to me. It looks like a toy that you could happily sit and much about with for hours.
The wee Diaclone pilots are pretty amazing too for their posability. Every time I’m playing with one I’m a mix of terrified it’ll break and amazed they put that much work into them.

I know these are very clever but they just don't scream Diaclone to me at all. Feels like a different line with the name slapped on it. -Ralph

I guess they were a bit trapped by Diaclone now being so associated with TFs (although admittedly I'm far from an expert on Diaclone), that it kind of necessitated a redesign. That said, I do love how they've played up modularity as a gimmick rather than basic transformation. Being able to swap all the bits in and out and customise is a strong draw.
Diabattles v2 (well, the MFT KO) arrived last night. What an utterly brilliant toy. Although opening up the box, I was struck that it was more like opening up a toybox than a single toy, with all the different components. Looking forward to having a much bigger play with it tonight.

From the perspective of Transformers fandom the focus is very much on the end of the Diaclone line, with things like the Car Robots, whereas the Power Suits were very much an aspect of the beginning of the line. The Powered Suits were the main infantry for the Diaclone force, with the big mecha there as back up and "crisis solutions" Karl

I actually don't think there has been that much of a redesign. I think that the new Powered Suits are closer to the original design - as seen in the art that Phil (iirc) came across a year or two ago - than the 1980s toys were. The original toys were very compromised by the state of toy manufacturing in the early eighties, but I'd say that these hew much closer to the intended, Starship Troopers-esque (*), look of the Suits. (Obviously the newer ones are departures in many ways - bigger for a start and moving more to the "small mecha" end than the "power armour" end, but I think they still maintain the family aesthetic nevertheless). Karl * - and if Miyatake-sama can't borrow from his own journeyman work it wouldn't be a very just world lets face it.

Very tempted by the Powered Suits actually. I haven't been able to afford any yet but I still keep considering it - they very much scratch that "power armoured infantry" itch that there really isn't that much else out there for.

Ah, I hadn't seen the original powered suits before. Thanks for those links. I'd read an article on the original Diabattles before, so I'd seen how that was a remake, but obviously there's a lot more going on here than I'd realised. It makes me even more impressed with how they've updated them.
Its worth keeping an eye on the Kapow sales for the Powered Suits. I got my first one (System C) in a previous sale for £15.

That's brilliant. Its interesting to see all the old stuff. They've been really faithful with how they've updated the Powered Suits.

Good lord. That certainly adds a new twist on army building. Really looks nice and alien and really helps differentiate them from the Diaclone suits (other than being a different design).
