So what's the consensus here? Botcon figures usually seem like a random bunch of tat to me - figures with odd paint jobs linked by a contrived theme to try and make sense of the moulds available. This seems like a better effort than usual and the figures actually look okay. Is this going to go down as one of Botcon's better years?

I think this is one of their better years.
The boxset is good and the choices make sense. Thje colouring for the three Tripredicus members is .... odd, but you can see why.
I love the Megatron, very nice, but it is RiD Megatron with a new head so I don't feel a pressing need for it.
Reflector came out really well. I'd have sprung for that at retail.
Airazor looks nice but I've owned Windblade so no thank you.
Tigatron is far better than I expected. Not sure about the head.
Love Unit-3. Mad. But it works.
Ratchet is fab, if painted right. I'm thinking red lightbars, something on the head and some black(?) paint on the windows would work best for a G1 Ratchet.
Terrorsaur is great, love him. I predict we'll see the head again as either Lazorbeak, Hydra or Fractyl in TFSS 5.0.

Tigatron is far better than I expected. Not sure about the head. I remember seeing that head at RORC as Pete Sinclair had it there. Side on it's very flat. Almost looks squashed. |

It's a Dinobot spark with a Triceratops head on it, used on BM Dinobots and onwards.
Megtron should have a BW & RiD Predacon spark.

I actually really like that Reflector. It's the head sculpt that makes it. I don't like it enough to pay Botcon prices for it, mind you. But it's nice.

Okay, so putting animal head on that toy really hasn't worked and the facial expressions on them all are laughably terrible, but yes. Reflector is nice.

Not had much time to play with them but the boxset is very nice apart from ravage. Breakdown issues combined with flat head, not good. But the colours are lovely. Tarantulas is basically perfect. Terrorsaur almost as good.

Ravage is horrible, but then he looked awful from the outset. Yikes, the back of his head though. Yikes.
Megatron looks amazing, real shame about the snafu with the spark crystal. I can't imagine it was on purpose!!!
As a set it's one of their better efforts in that with the exception of Reflector, it's actually all on-theme! When was the last time THAT happened?? Quality wise, eeeeh, it's just Megatron that excites me, but he REALLY excites me!
(Under-3 SHOULD excite me, but ehhhhh. Genuinely upset he didn't have a giant lion head tampo on his altmode. I mean he has a head tampo, but it's a maximal logo. Come on!!!)

Then why isn't he Steeljaw properly? -Ralph Unit 3 is first and foremost an Under 3 homage. The name was swithced to Unit 3 because it's less stupid and fits with prior fiction where police forces went by unit numbers. That's the real world story. In the fictional world those police forces won't exist yet, so the reason for the name needed to be rethought. In the comic the character is the sole survivor of a squad called Unit 3 and takes it as his name in honour of them. This has lead to speculation as to what his name may have been before taking on the new one. Many have spotted similarities between his bio and Steeljaw's, but John-Paul didn't write that bio and had already decided who it would be for himself. Unless he decides to reveal that name, officially he isn't anyone except Unit 3. |

Apparently they didn't paint the dragon eyes on the Megatron toy, but they made stickers available for it. But the stickers are on the Magnaboss sticker sheet they made.
400 sticker sheets. 850 Megatrons.
I can't believe such a quality company is losing the license!
