Spotted a new UK TF comic in Smiths this morning. Not Titan but I've forgotten the publisher, looked like a small indie. Uses the Titan format though, but had more comic content. It looked to me like it had an original UK strip, which was printed on smaller paper inside another strip, which I *think* was the Free Comic Book Day RiD story (the one that starts with a forest fire and Grimlock). it had a 4 inch non-transforming Bumblebee on the front that fires little red discs. Didn't buy it. £4 is too much for that kind of thing.

Huh, that's interesting and pretty under the radar. Who's the writer on it?

Sorry, I had nothing with me to write anything down. It wasn't a name I recognised - not one of the IDW names. I've checked my FCBD issue and the main strip is a straight reprint of that, all 16 pages. In fact this new comic advertised itself as having '16 pages of comic', but the new UK strip content was an insert that was fairly substantial in itself on top of that.

Got it now - but what is the comic titled? Transformers, Transformers RID or Transformers Magazine. if you go by the copyright page or cover or competition form.
They must have something up online somewhere to get the pictures done for the 1st issue. No subscription information. #2 20/11/15. So the 8 page extra could be done up (for future issues) for fill-ins. Or is it from a story book? to explain the smaller size printing of it. We are at least getting to #3 with stuff to scan on the inside front cover.

I also bought it. £3.49 for 36 pages + 8 page mini comic isn't bad. I just wish they didn't use the extra high cover, which makes it difficult to store. The 8-page UK strip has the following credits: Writer: Richard Mead (a name previously listed as art director at Rich T MediaArtists: Dan Khanna and Evan Guantt (a misspelled Evan Gauntt, most likely) Letterer: Terry Sambridge

I think it's crazy that there's a stealth-released new UK comic!

Especially amid the unholy mess that is the kids bagged comics section in any newsagent. The chances of finding anything in that madness is minimal. I was looking for another Clangers comic for the missus, but that seems to have been a one off as the 'CBeebies Special' is a different subject this month. I thought they might at least complete the basic family with the free toys, but no! It's also where I have to go hunting for Doctor Who Comic in Smiths, which is totally misplaced in that section. It should be with the Marvels based on the content.

It's getting weirder. I've just stumbled across a Panini-published German edition on ebay.de.

That toy is what we got with TF Titan v4 issue but with new backing.

I've read the text on the front cover.
For Uk readers we get the 10p tat while if you buy the comic overseas you get a nice £2 Transformes tiny titan toy. I hope they don't do this for future issues because the inner comic is better than Titan Comics became.
I sent the following message to the mag
Date: Sun, 18 Oct 2015 15:00:07 +0100 Subject: Subscriptions To: transformers@signaturepl.co.uk
Just enquiring if there is going to be a subscription service for the new Transformers comic release this weekend.
Is the comic also monthly? With #2 coming out 5 weeks after #1. Also is the comic to feature a reprint each issue of the IDW ongoing RID series?

Found and bought. A surprisingly high amount of comic strip pages compared to most of the UK kiddy comics market.

Pretty sure the comic will indeed reprint the IDW material, which is quite nice. Priscilla's artwork is nice, and the stories are weaved in and around the cartoon rather than straight adaptations.
The wee comic insert, had dreadful lettering but it's not necessarily for the UK, as a google search reveals that several of these have been produced by Rich T Media 6with various artists.
Still, a lot of comic content by UK newstand levels for kids, so I wholeheartedly approve and if you compare it to the recently launched Thunderbirds comic, but I will let Ralph tell you about that one.

www.amazon.co.uk/dp/031641087XI think it is these books because the images do look like the ones in this issue. For the posters & features not the mini comic - but the mini comic might be in this book on amazon.

How many people on here are going to get this comic? It feels more like Titan v1 (that's the first 25 issues) but with reprint stories.

It will get at least one more issue from me as I approve of the high amount of strip content (as an aside I saw some of the target audience buying copies in asda today - hurray). Comparitively the new Thunderbirds 'comic' is pish: fecking screen grabs rather than comic art.

Yeah. I've got Thunderbirds toys. I looked at that comic and saw nothing I was going to like. I've still yet to find the essential bookazine.

E-mail reply from Dan Khanna
On 19 October 2015 at 16:22, Daniel Khanna <> wrote: Hi,
That's pretty cool that the book is put now. I drew this back in April. It was for a TF RID test issue for European markets . I believe it came out in France earlier this summer. As far as I know it was a one shot. ( but the stories are designed to fit in between episodes in tv continuity )
I wish I had a copy of this myself. It's going to be tough to track down. Hope you enjoyed the book.

Good to hear there's original material, I'd assumed from the description of 20 pages of comic that it was just an IDW reprint.
Though I suppose if they'd already paid for the test story and the FCBD strip wasn't long enough to fill an issue by itself then pairing them up was sensible and future issues might just be the IDW series. I suppose it depends how well they think the test went (anyone heard of this French comic? Did they manage more original material?).
Even if it does wind up entirely a reprint book, it's nice to have it back.

That's direct from Dan Khanna himself. I've sent Dan a link direct to this thread anyway. Anybody here attending a US event Dan is at so we can get a copy of the comic to him.

US news sites are running a bit slow - they are stating RID #1 comes out & was released 21/10/15.
But with the comic just released - what could happen for #8? Georgia Ball sorts of says she could have alreday written more issues but she can't say anything due to Hasbro. This isn't exact but sort of hinted at.
Hasbro LOVED this book and it’s possible more of it could come out in the future but I can’t give out any details!
That lines sound like - I've written more stories but IDW don't want to do the comic, but Hasbro might have it lined up to be draw & printed in overseas comics. We'll find out if this is true in May 2016 when the UK comic is at #8.

It's the line she said - you'd not say more could come out but I can't talk about it if you had not written more stories. ... & she's a better female writer than that other one.

IDW have said the US RiD title is finishing with issue 6, so what that means for this one I don't know...

Should be out in 2 days time.
With that they didn't do the press release revealing they had the rights to the comic until the day before #1 came out - I don't expect we'll ever get the comic before the printed date of release.
Also the minicomic in #1 has 2 pages with printing errors on it & I think these are not the complete story. I'm going to scan it in & email to Dan to confirm. Today is the last day to get #1 for 2 stories for £3.49 (one being the FCBD comic)
