So Botcon 2010 is about recolouring Classics toys into Generation 2 characters. Commendable, sure. But just think of all the missed opportunities!
What other Classics toys could, nay should, be recoloured into G2 characters?
I'll start.
Classics Optimus Prime, coloured turquoise and bronze into... Staxx!!

Well the Starscream should be done as G2 Starscream and Ramjet respectively.

Bumblebee in red chrome as Hubcap
Chromed legends Beachcomber as G2 Beachcomber
Green Tank Classics Megatron in purple as Archforce
Powerglide with new head as Jihaxus (oh please please) and some Cyclonus remolds as the Sweep style 3-pack of G2 troopers.

Hmm... We could have Sideswipe done in Sparkly Blue/Lemon-Lime Go-Bot colours (http://www.the-hub.co.uk/sideswipe-1995/).
Jetfire could make a good Jhiaxus?
Silverbolt in G2 Silverbolt colours, perhaps?

I'm persoanlly less interested in getting a G2 version of a toy I already have the G1 version of so as much as I'd love a G2 Ramjet I'm more excited by Breakdown or Streetwise. Thats actually been my attitude sine G2 first came out, Aside from Prime I didn't get a G2 figure I owned from G1. Oh and Hubcap but I thought it wa Cliffjumper when I bought it. And later Jazz Inferno and Sideswipe.
If there isn't a Jhixus in the add ons set I'll be disappointed, he and Black Sideswipe with spikes and giant guns are probably the most iconic part of the G2 comic. Personally I'd love that as a set. The Powerglide to Jhixus looks fantastic, but I've also seen an Armada Tidalwave that looks good as long as its got a new head I'll be happy and Sideswipe with removable spikes and a giant gun.
Otherwise Hound into the axelarator, what ever its name is.

Seeing as G2 Sideswipe is a swap of the red & black on Sideswipe how about a G2 Sunstreaker using the classics mould with a black body and yellow hands & head ?

Could TFCC be planning on doing a 30 years of Micromasters for 2019?
If so which toys could they use for which characters -if they pick 8 toys so release 2 teams.
Hasbro have done Micromaster repaints in the past - Countdown & Flak. But BC/TFCC have never used any of the characters [apart from Flak in wings of honor].

What makes you think they potentially have a micromaster themed set planned for 2019?
FP goes through so much turmoil it's completely possible (though not probable) that they'll lose the lisence before then.
Transformers may die by then. Hasbro stakes so much of the franchise on the success of each movie now, it seems, that I fully believe that one film being a massive flop could be a deathnail in the brand. Especially given how badly it's struggling with Prime being a flop. (Mostly I think this because I don't believe Hasbro really understands why TF is floundering.)
On subject, Hasbro's done a few more homages to micromasters than that. Stormcloud from U. Powerglide (And the White powerglide is an unintentional homage to Hothouse). Big Daddy from Cyb. Downshift. Tote (By name of Inferno in the movie line) from Armada Red Alert. Erector (By name of Mudflap in the movie line) from Cyb Mudflap. Those are just off the top of my head and sitting on my classics shelf. A little looking and I'm sure there's more. There was almost a second Big Daddy from HftD Hubcap, before that wave was cancelled. Would have come out with Rumble.

No, Big Daddy's black, and so was the RtS repaint. Hubcap, the original release of the mold was red, though.
Either way, I wanted it to stand on my G2 shelf as Sizzle (I think. Electro is the only one of those four laserrods that I can remember name to toy. Volt and Jolt plays havok with my dislexia, and it pulls sizzle into the mix for some reason I don't understand. So I remember Electro is the gold truck, but I have a hard time with the others. Volt=purple, jolt=red, and sizzle=black?)

Also, I'm surprised there weren't more Micromaster homages from Minicons. Especially considering how many simular or same alt modes as existed (Such as the Military team)
A Botcon set of nothing but Minicons repainted as as many micromasters as FP could, before Hasbro and Takara ran those molds into dust, would have been kinda cool.

Oh, that! I never noticed. Like I said earlier, never cared about it for Big Daddy, he was always gonna be the laserrod for me, lol.
I never cared about Big Daddy, honestly. I get tired of transformers being fan favorites because of an odd or unfortunate name (You can blame the big uproar over Erector for this). And really, that is the *only* reason anyone gives two shakes about him.

They missed doing 10 years in 99 - 20 years in 2009. We've had 10 years of Beastwars. Forgot about stormcloud & never seen Bigdaddy.

I would only be interested if the box set consisted of thirty old micromaster repaints. Maybe with a base or transport or two.

In the future should Botcon guys have the whole Action Master line in the comic - I know they might make toys of them. We have had Action Masters before - but not total the same with the partner. We have Treadshot - but he is a TFCC toy not Botcon one.
But idea being Bonbshell transforming but with also his Action master battle armour. Or if Treadshot keeping the Warpath mode had Catgut on toy transforming into his guns. But then using the new characters like Powerflash [powerglide repaint]. We've had Banzi [Bludgeon want to be] toy in the past.

It would be really hard to give every actionmaster homage something that represents their original partner. Especially since half of them were tools like a skateboard and helipacks , and whatnot. Would be downright impossible for them to do armor. E-Bulkhead and E-Landmine might be passible, with their brute modes.
As for a full botcon set? This is what will happen based on history. They would announce the set to be Actionmasters. But, they would only do approximately three AMs, and the rest of the set would be something completely random that has nothing to do with it, like the RiD autobot brothers, and the Cybertron Defense Patrol. With the exception of Decent into Evil, and Shattered Glass, has there ever been a year they bothered to stay on theme for the entire set of toys? I can't think of one.
Thats not to say I wouldn't be all over an actionmaster set. I'd love one.

I can forgive 2010 and 2011; Generation 2: Redux did mostly manage to stick with late-G1 / G2 and I can't be angry at Sky-Byte (easily my favourite BotCon year, toy-wise). The Animated box set is probably the most self-consistent ever, and it's understandable they'd produce a couple of non-Animated exclusives when there are so many fans who don't like that aesthetic (besides, AMTC!!!).
I love Action Master homages, but even so I'm not sure I'd want to see a whole year of them. Just chuck the occasional one in the sets or subscriptions (Roll-Out from Breacher, come on, you know it makes sense!).

In the comic we could see Generations Jazz, Tracks with fold up skate board on car/battle armour - then they might have the add on released as a toy or could all be comic only. Wheeljack in background transforming & getting in his car.

I dunno... I'm seeing a vague facial resemblance to a certain Edward T Head... Although the thought of a set of heavy metal mascot Transformers would be pretty fun. Eddie, Vic Rattlehead, Ziltoid, The Motorhead fella...Bound to be a couple more.

I mean, Somewhere in Time Eddie is halfway there anyway. SDCC should have done that instead of the bonkers hair metal set they did. Rattlehead would make an awesome Decepticon.

Mad thought. If current moulds is what it's all about - might the other souvenir sets come from some of the RiD Warrior moulds? They've used Prime ones in recent years. Or would they be considered too far removed from the core audience?

Prime molds were usually a stretch to fit in with the traditional style (though not as much a stretch for beast era characters), but I think the nurid molds being even more drastically in the tfp style are a bit too far to work as classics.
And in my personal opinion, I'd be angry at having to pay FP premium prices for molds that are so poorly designed they angered me at paying retail prices for. Which is a shame that they're so lousy, because in theory a few of them would make pretty a good neo-animated set.

I think you're right, you couldn't charge a premium price for those moulds and expect fans to be happy paying. I had a play with Strongarm and Bumblebee tonight. They definitely aren't CW deluxe quality.

Although, I must say, there a few NuRID moulds that would fit 'classic' easthetic. Just a question of creative thinking.
