Ooooh, Neo-Animated! Somebody digibash some options! If the molds weren't typically so bad quality: Grimlock- Animated Cruellock Jazz- Animated Kick-Off Steeljaw- Animated Nobel, Ravage, Silverbolt Drift- Yoketron Takara idw drift can stand in as a straight up animated drift Sideswipe can work, but I don't know who for off the top of my head. Bumblebee, Optimus, and Strongarm don't work imo. Bee's car is too angular and boxy... Complete opposite of wyatt aesthetics, nor does his robot mode look like anything in particular. Optimus is similar, on top of being the weakest designed mold in the line. Strongarm is the most traditional of them all, aside from her head. She could make a convincing Smallfoot (either classic or animated). But I think she'd be a fairly weak animated mold. I don't really know what any of the other upcomings look like, because I don't pay attention to the line. |

Has this flown over my head? Neo, as in New. I literally mean New Animated. Animated has a finite number of molds. A few Nurid warriors gel fairly well in animated aesthetics, that they could suppliment future Animated sets. If they weren't so poor quality, that is. |

I would laugh like a drain. Though I wonder if using not-terrible plastic quality would help them not be awful! I really want a RiD set now. You could have Hot Spot as Prime, the three car bros and uh, Dragstrip as Skid-Z? Maybe stick those unreleased RiD Robot Heroes in there too. You could probably get a good Liokaiser out of those molds too. |

There's lots of talk about alternate Botcon set ideas in the thread for this year. Before Phil shouts at us, I thought it might be an idea to have its own thread.
What sort of thing would you like to see?
OR what sort of set would you design if like Funpub Hasbro were giving you the opportunity to use 2015 molds to fit in with their current marketing OR ELSE.
I really like the idea of a RiD combiner with Hot Spot as Optimus Prime, three cars as the car bros and maybe Skid-Z to round out the limbs. Perhaps legends Groove could be TA-I? I'd also like to see Sky Lynx as RID Megatron, but then I don't know what the other limbs would be (the boring answer is also have Ruination, but that seems too obvious)

Drillhorn would be a Brawl recolour with the extra bits Ramhorn has. I typed that, but then thought that would mean two Brawl moulds in the same set because Killbison has to be Brawl. I was trying to think of a way to fit the six proper characters into the Voyager/Deluxe/Legend pattern, but the best you could do is Drillhorn using the Ramhorn look and then having Killbison as Legends Warpath - but he isn't a combiner addon. Powerglide is wrong for the two planes and Blackjack/Groove don't work. Those CW moulds fit those characters almost perfectly. Now I look at that I'm thinking maybe down the line that might actually appear in Japan from somewhere? I would buy that. Of all the insane repaints and reuses of these moulds, a Liokaiser I would buy. |

Reconstructing this from memory, plus a couple updated molds.
Straight up BW Era setting, with no stupid alternate realities. It was originally built around Drift in red with Blurr's guns, but that's since been done, leaving me needing a new hero.
All are original characters and original decos. It's designed to be a cohesive worldbuilding set, focused around a strong story (instead of a weak story focused on mismatching toys)
In the frontier colonies, life has become tough, as the lawless run wild. The Maximal and Predacon council's authority is weak at best, leaving the colonies to deal with the problems themselves.
In the energon mining colony of Hallow Gulch, the peaceful citizens have been under constant assault from a gang of energon bandits, since their sherrif turned up murdered years ago. As the population dwindles from maximals and predacons leaving, visiters have become rare, and subject to suspicion when they do.
All seemed hopeless as the bandits continue to get richer and richer as they keep stealing the freshly mined energon.
All seemed hopeless until the day The Stranger rolled into town. But what are her intentions? One thing is certain, though. The balance of power has shifted, and the banbits are now on the run.

Beast Wars Animated
Too lazy to rewrite my story synopsis in full, but here's the gist. Set in the far future.
A group of terrorists called the Terrorcons have broken into classified autobot records and stolen the plans to Safeguard.
Primal Magnus has sent for Arcee Primal to assemble a team to make sure the Terrorcon known as Tarantulas cannot sell or use the plans.
I had a full set made up, but that's been lost to time.

Going with the combiner wars moulds theme but ignoring the BW anniversary in favour of a comic-related 30th:

I think this needs no introduction. Just maybe a slight apology for characters who have already been well-represented, but never in their combined form!

Niiice sideways thinking. Presented in a cardboard fold out Spacebridge box? I reckon you could push the boat out and remould Rook into a pretty good Seaspray if you went the amphibious vehicle route, but that would unbalance the arms a bit.
Yes, I'd buy that.
Actually, I wonder how meaty a combiner would look if it had all the most dense figures in its makeup? Onslaught's body, then Brawl, Rook, Swindle and... Offroad? for limbs? Chunk monster.

Rook could appear in the attendee sets as a RAAT vehicle!
Could be the troop builder set, with those little soldier figures from the HFTD Ravage Infiltration set as RAAT troops.

They should totally do a MASK set. You could easily make any of the big truck Prime molds into Rhino, though I get stuck on the rest. You probably need a green bike or helicopter to be that green bike/helicopter and a blue/pink plane/helicopter as Switchblade, but I'm not sure what else is really iconic.

IF FP are still on CW for the next TFSS I can see an RID set as a 5 piece autobot set is pretty easy, but expanding to a full Botcon set is a bit harder (see below). The 6th figure could be Onslaught as Scourge (g2 hero Prime)or could be any of the spychangers as could the 7th secret figure.

And is an excuse to make botcon legends.
I know the set is very niche and would piss off a lot of people because it pokes fun at toy collecting, but I think it's fun enough.

MASK Crossovers, could be fun, could be horrible like the other crossover attempts. have vehicle modes that match the vehicles and robot modes designed to resemble the pilot (at least new heads designed to homage the pilots masks).
Or vehicle matches transform into brand new characters based on either the pilots or appearance of the original mask toy.
Or just vehicle matches, MASK vehicles turn into recognisable Transformers.

Rhino - G2 Primes recent reuse shows the mould is available if they can use it without the trailer. If not teres always the deluxe Generations version (Noo!) or one of the Prime versions. Or maybe better yet Ultra Magnus. (I just found a theme)
