It's really just Takara Fort Max with an English voice chip isn't it?

Nah. It's still got the silly Hasbro red knees.
Surprising lack of chrome for an SDCC release. So we now have three slightly different Fort Maxi.

Yeah SDCC, underwhelming. They've broken up the grey of the torso, added a sword and different Titanmaster. So its basically the TT version, but uglier somehow.

Yeah, it's not going to set fans off in a desperate rush to buy it.

Now that looks nice. But I've learned my lesson. I'm gonna be strong enough to resist paying that premium. Right? Right..? Takara is what you want. Only £20 more at Kapow Ah. As it turns out, it's Hasbro I want. Didn't realise when I posted that it had the Takara Titan Master. Marvel-accurate* Cerebros for me, or nothing! (*Accurate in the sense that occasionally in the mini-series Max would also have the Cerebros head. For reasons.)

Thanks Phil. :-) It's still Hasbro for me. :-)

It's amazing how such subtle differences can cause such indecision. Effectively, to anyone other than the people reading these boards, and possibly the Doc, those three would be all the same. Yet we dither and debate. DITHER AND DEBATE!

TAKARA ALL THE WAY

No dithering here. The red on the legs screws both the Hasbro efforts.

Yeah. I think so too. The coup de gras would be if the Hasbro Titan head got reused as an actual Titanmaster so we could get the proper Cerebros face without having to go the Hasbro Max route.

Have we seen the Hasbro retail version in box yet? It's just dawned on me that the SDCC one has his right arm attached and is in a window box. That's going to be very big. The SDCC box last year for Devvy was different to the retail one, but that one looks a lot like a normal retail box. There's no special place for the sword to go, and the arms have been moved out of the plastic moulding where they're supposed to go to hold it.
That is going to be bigger than a very big thing on a shop shelf.

Hmm. I do think in a normal retail environment that huge window wouldn't offer a lot of protection. Have we had any on the shelf pictures from Australia?

No dithering here. The red on the legs screws both the Hasbro efforts. I'm glad someone else has said that because I thought it was a glaringly poor colour choice that no one seemed to care about.

I could have lived with it as it makes sense surrounding the red guns. I'd have wanted it to be what's turned out to be the Takara colours though.

Ah nobs. So he's going to be like Metroplex in that he won't go back in his box cos he's damn sure to come with that arm disconnected again. SDCC have got that right then - nice packaging in the style of the rest of the range.
No, wait a minute. I'm getting the Takara one aren't I. So there's still some hope he'll come assembled.

Yet we dither and debate. DITHER AND DEBATE! And then there are people like me, who can see the differences but don't think that they make a huge difference overall. I think that the red and the grey legs work as well as each other. Personally I prefer the red, but not for any meaningful difference. I just like red. But all three versions look pretty much as good as each other to me *shrug* Karl

It's all subjective. Has to be. There's no other way to explain why the Doc, whose opinion I respect and seek on all matters, thinks both Computrons are the same.

I shall tell you why. When there is a reveal of a remake of an older toy/character I just have a look at it and think "Yes that looks like Chapbot or no it doesn't". I don't pore over every tiny detail. I just don't care. So long as on first glance it pings the bit in my brain that says: "That looks like Chapbot" I am happy and move on to looking at something else. It's just not important to my life that a remake toy be 'accurate' to x%.

To be honest I'm the same, I just go with what I think looks best. However, I can still tell the differences between things.

What about a choice between a comic face Cerebros, with the visor and faceplate, or a toy face Cerebros, with a face?

I believe the US version has sound effects while the Japanese one has Japanese speech.
