I've decided to go all Hasbro for TR except for any Takara exclusives. I want to collect the full line and it'll be the first line I'll have completed so I want to avoid missing anything out by jumping back and forward between TR and LG.
There are some I will double dip on though.

I think I prefer Hasbro's, actually. It looks far more lively. I prefer Hasbros on this one too. The blue below the chest instead of the grey works better as does the different shade on the left boob and the red continuing down to the feet. |

Based on most of the photgraphs I havent been keen on Hasbros, it tends to look like combo of Fort, Grand and Brave, Takaras is clearly much closer to the original toy. Having said that, in person I didnt think Max looked to bad.

RFC this week posit that Takara Cerebros will have a head based on Rebirth, whereas as we've seen, the Hasbro one is based on the G1 toy. Small but significant difference.

Are you sure? The pictures we saw from ToyFair/Botcon had the cartoon head. I'm fairly sure. Because I remember being excited by that.

Takara colours look blander to me. I get that they want to copy the animation model more but hmmmm. We will see in the flesh so to speak!
I'd be confused if Takara use the Rebirth Cerebro head!!

Yes, I'd expect them to have a Japanese Headmasters head. Now the still as yet unannounced but everyone knows it's coming SDCC version*, that will have a different head: I suspect it's this version that Transmissions have seen and assumed it's the Takara version. * Last two Titans have had SDCC versions, we know there's an exclusive in the works from that post, it's reasonable to put 2 and 2 together here. Slightly worryingly the Japanese pictures this week didn't have the swords included. |
