The only thing I prefer in Hasbro's is the blue stomach panels instead of Takara grey. I'll need to watch the video review to see what the sound effects are like before deciding. |

Interesting little tit bit on parts reuse I spotted in the unboxing video:  On the leg on our left, see the black hole slightly to the left of the right hand side of the leg? That's the gutter the crane arm sits in one Metroplex. The thing is the panel has moved legs from Metroplex and is now on the opposite one!  Yeah I know it's a bad photo! |

It's *extremely* disappointing that Max's legs don't seem to fold up into towers like the original. If laying down on your back with your arms stretched constitutes as one mode, then laying down on your back while doing the splits does *not* constitute as an actual second mode. The original was sorta pushing it as it was. |

Phil's been playing "Build a better Fort Max city mode" using Metroplex. 4 things to bear in mind: There would be runways down the back of the arms. The leg towers would look very different with guns on the front side, hinged towards the base, and a pointing top to the towers formed from the feet. Metroplex can't spread his legs as widely as Max can due to the way the hips are moulded I am a rubbish photographer with a neuro muscular condition that effects my hands and a bad camera Here's the simplest version: Bend the legs up at the hips, resulting in two tall towers near the body   Slightly more complicated: spin the thighs 180 degrees and then bend the knees. Twin shorter towers further back from the body  Finally fold the legs out to the side, like in the official Max city base mode, then rotate the things 180 degrees and bend the knees. Remember what I said about Metroplex's hips not letting the legs go directly to the side!  I suppose you could from here fold the legs back 90 degrees at the thigh giving a flatter but different base mode. All these are before you start opening leg panels up. |
