Just going in. Without a word of a lie I have felt absolutely fine all day but in the last 10-15 mins I have started to feel ill again. Burning throat and high temperature. Fffs.

Also there is one scene in it which broke my heart. I cannot say what it is and why, once you see it you will know. Andy Is Dwayne Johnson in it?

1. 13 Hours:The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi 2. Jem and the Holograms: a lacklustre overall package, hampered by direction and editing that seem to conspire to kick the knees out from under it every time it threatens to maintain the energy it really needed. There are some scenes that do threaten to develop a bit of sparkle, but only inconsistently. Probably its biggest flaw though is the nearly inexplicable decision to remove every possible trace of agency from the lead character, a decision doubly unfortunate considering the property it is attached to. Did not enjoy it much and far too much of it was redolent of "will that do"? Not even in contention for the worst film I've ever seen though.
(Part of me does wish I lived in the universe where they made, with the same cast, the pop-rock musical caper movie that it flirts with becoming s couple of times though. Picking up and running with the "setting matters right with evil manipulative A&R woman between pop-rock performances" could have been a really fun through-line)

Good grief. You've gone from saying it was not that bad to enjoying it in less than 24 hours! I think Will Smith needs to move on from broken heads in Concussion to studying the effect of watching Jem by oneself!

Am I the one person in the world who enjoyed the Jem film? I want a badge! -Ralph Statistically I think it is unlikely. There will be other people who enjoyed it elsewhere I am sure. The odds of them posting in this thread are not that high however. Karl (I'm actually surprised by how much the things that annoyed me did annoy me. I never really encountered Jem until I was an adult. I was aware if its existence, but that was all. Yet I did feel quite miffed by the things I saw in it that I wanted to be better or stronger. There are elements about it I seem to feel more annoyed for it than at it, if you see what I mean.) (Unlike my reaction to the "Deadpool" trailer, which was literally an emotionless "That was the trailer for "Deadpool". I'm not planning on going, not because I am feeling any dislike for the film, but because I'm not feeling anything one way or another. If I'm at a loose end and there is a showing maybe I'd see it, but I can't remember when I was last at a loose so the odds are poor.)

The only problem I had with the Jem movie was that it was called Jem. Change the name of the film/lead character and most of the problems fall away. I'm not the target audience for the film that was actually made but I thought it achieved what it was going for without a hint of cynicism and some charm. I do suspect though that it will be one of those films that The Internet proclaims is awful but that very few people will have actually seen.

I'm not the target audience for the film that was actually made That's probably the main problem. There was no target audience. It's a film aimed at tweens/teens BUT based on a property only adults would have heard of/care about.

Hence my point that just changing the name of the film would have solved those problems instantly.

The only problem I had with the Jem movie was that it was called Jem. Change the name of the film/lead character and most of the problems fall away. I'd agree that a lot of my problems do stem from it being supposed to be Jem and the Holograms. Cognitive dissonance if you like. If it had been anything else I'd probably have shrugged and "it is one of what it is". (Assuming I'd bothered going at all.) I suspect that is probably the case. I don't think it has warranted a thread on my other usual stomping ground, and most things musters at least ten posts or so. I suspect that this is because very few people actually went. Karl

Is it not more that they're trying to create a new audience using an existing IP in the hope it would also drag in some older fans? Which is what Bayformers is really. The target audience wouldn't necessarily care if was something their mums might have been into, but their mums might stand a greater chance of taking their kids to see it if they recognize the name.

It wasn't wasn't a bad film. Just very faulty which is unfortunate as it had a good message that it just failed to get out. I pity it.
I must also buy Andy a copy for That Scene.

I'm surprised you weren't all electrified by the movie and people aren't elbowing their way in to see it in greater numbers. Still, the director really must not be happy despite being a sharpshooter.
