Uh, Rocky III is way better in terms of spectacle and breaking boundaries of the love between two men in crop tops on the beach. Very progressive for it's time and piddles all over the East/West everybody can change message of IV. But then again, the Vince Dicola training song of Rocky IV is miles ahead of Eye of the Tiger. However, Mr. T and Hulk Hogan?? Can't beat that.

Yeah sorry Blue', but Rocky III is the best Rocky film.
Best film?
The Return......
of the Jedi.

This is an impossible question to answer because it shifts depending on my focus or mood at the time. My fall back answer is usually Blade Runner, because the fusion of film noir and science fiction is a particular favourite sub-genre for me, but there are probably half a dozen other films I could give for different reasons.

Oh! I thoroughly enjoyed the piece on Starcrash in this month's SFX. Reminded me it's been far too long since I've seen that.
With regard to Shockers, I mean how does RotJ rate above Empire in any context?! I can only think of 'Number of Ewoks on screen'.

The Battle of Endor is the best Star Wars space battle. Han's rescue is also pretty great (before addition of Snootles' musical number and the Sarlac beak). And what's wrong with Ewoks? Ingenuity triumphs over technology.
Anyway, best film ever is Citizen Kane, although Orson Wells was better in The Muppets Movie and TF:TM obviously.

With regard to Shockers, I mean how does RotJ rate above Empire in any context?! I can only think of 'Number of Ewoks on screen'. It's the genius of the title! The Jedi return! And by returning, the one Jedi who remains goes after and saves his friend. The entire Jabba section is marvelous with it's aliens and action sequences. The story of Luke and Vader comes full circle in a satisfying way. Ewoks.... hmmmmm, they're alright, them defeating the technology of the Empire etc, but they should have been Wookies. That would've tied Chewbacca closer to the story in a very character driven personal way which would have been great to see. And the space battle is AWESOME, just as good as anything before it, the likes of which we're still waiting for in a subsequent Star Wars movie. Don't get me wrong, Empire is amazeballs, and Jedi only works because of it, but Jedi, for me both as a kid and as an adult, delivers. Except for Boba Fett's lame death, of course.

As an adult Empire is clearly better, as a kid I LOVED Jedi.

Boba Fett gets a lame death because he is a lame character.

The way Boba Fett was idolised was a bit OTT. But he deserved a better death than the one he got. Luke shoulda killed him or something.

I actually like the way Fett goes out. There is a lovely moment of "Hah! Blind man, what damage can he do?" then "aaarrrggghhh!" For a "henchman" grade individual I'd say it is about right - more attention than the mooks, not as much as a proper character. Works for me.
