I've been pondering how IDW might do Titans Return. Cos, let's face it, they will as a super mega dynamic event crossover.
The problem is I'm assuming they won't use some of the characters: Brainstorm, Chromedome, Rewind, Ravage and Nightbeat are MTMTE regulars and central to the story.
Blaster & Highbrow are on the lost light but, without spoiling the current state of play, I can see a way for them to end up home.
Max is a semi regular in MTMTE but I can't see them doing Titans without him..... unless there's a fudge which involves him being named after a lost Titan who returns with the secret of the Titanmasters?
Hardhead's dead in the Dead Zone. Scourge is dead on Cybertron.
Optimus and Alpha Trion are on or near Earth but it's pretty easy to get either of them involved.
Blurr's a bartender. Skullcruncher's a comedian.
Mindwipe? Wierdwolf? Sentinel Prime?
Galvatron hates Headmasters (is it cos he secretly is one?)

I guess the issue is the age-old 'why would these characters have little men in their heads?'. Is that even what Titan Returns is? Are they literally binary bonded Headmasters or are they supposed to be normal sized robots piloting mecha (I assumed the latter but with them all getting names think it is the former now?). I can't think of any obvious way of doing it without completely derailing the current stories completely, but HEY, Dark Cybertron and Combiner Wars set a good precedent for doing exactly that!
You're right about Fort Max. Maybe he uh, gets merged with Metroplex??
As much as I am enjoying the fact that the comics are once more tying in to the toyline, there's a bigger issue in that the comic setup of 'the war is over' is incompatible with Hasbro's 'Autobot vs Decepticon' thing which led to uh, Combiner Wars being way more awkward than it needed to be. (I do prefer IDW's setup though, I don't think they've done nearly enough with it as they could/should have, as the entire thing with the exception of Megatron has defaulted to 'Autobots vs Decepticons' still).

I suspect the TR version is going to be little Cybertronians, probably along the lines of the Headmasters cartoon series. The comic formerly known as RiD has a little cybertronian in it and associated with Galvatron so I see that as a story route in

I need to get v8,9 to find who that is I expect the tpb to be collected like the following V1 Titans return #1. Transformers #56 More Than Meets The Eye #56 Till all are one #3
V2 Transformers #57 More Than Meets The Eye #57 Till all are one #4. Titans return #2. then back to v10 for the TPB & TAAO #1,2 being in one mini tpb (has the Holiday issue been added to a tpb - if not it could go with it)

Lots of assumptions there Pete! MTMTE didn't take part in Combiner War and that only got one special!
The Holiday Special HASN'T been reprinted yet but I'd expect the components to show up in the next trade for each series.

There is a Titans Return One Shot coming in July: www.bleedingcool.com/2016/04/20/rom-power-puff-girls-mickey-mouse-shorts-and-transformers-titans-return-idw-solicits-for-july-2016/Transformers: Titans Return One-shot
Mairghread Scott, James Roberts, John Barber (w) • Livio Ramondelli (a & c)
THE LAST AUTOBOT! Once he ruled CYBERTRON with a brutal (and literal) iron fist… left for dead four million years ago, SENTINEL PRIME is back. But in a world where STARSCREAM rules CYBERTON, OPTIMUS PRIME has invaded Earth, and MEGATRON is an AUTOBOT—SENTINEL doesn’t like what he sees!
FC • 40 pages • $4.99
Transformers: Titans Return One-shot—Subscription Variant
Mairghread Scott, James Roberts, John Barber (w) • Livio Ramondelli (a & c)
FC • 40 pages • $4.99
Bullet points:
The story continues in TRANSFORMERS #56 and MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE #56 next month, and expands to TILL ALL ARE ONE this fall! For the first time ever—Scott, Roberts, and Barber working together on one story! Plus the powerful noir art of superstar Livio Ramondelli! After OPTIMUS is hailed; after the LIGHT dies… the next phase of TRANSFORMERS comics starts here!

So there's a one shot, it's then in an issue each of the three(!!) ongoings and then continues only in Til All Are One (assumedly to prop up the sales of the newest book?)
Could be worse I guess. As long as the only affect on MTMTE is one issue! I'd hate another Dark Cybertron situation! Scott is easily their weakest writer though, and of all her stuff weakest on the big epic event stuff, so that seems an... odd move (her character-based romp stuff is better, but still very middle of the road to me). Let's hope it is something that plays to everyones strengths!
And that ROM is in it!

No, I don't think Till All Are One gets involved till later.
Pete, had you read the IDW Solicitations for that month when you commented earlier?

I was going by what was in the text & just guessing it would be 2 months to make up 2 TPB's.

I genuinely did not know the solicitations for IDW were out when I wrote the first post!

I'm also guessing at the series having a bookend - like with Dark Cybertron & Combiner wars (which i've not read & also can't remember how many parts are to it). But it also says 3 writers on one story but must be formatted for tpb reprints.

Also this isn't the end of season 2 is it? the season one lasted 2 years at #27 of each title but shouldn't it be around #60 - so we have another story after this one. We where always told season 2 would end with a crossover again like Dark Cybertron.
I'd like series 3 to end with not having the writers being forced into a crossover & we could have big event in 2 different parts of space for a big bang ending.

Can anybody explain the titans return books (what goes where etc) to me as I'm hesitant to look online for fear of spoilers? Thanks!

Yeah, when you get to the end of the one shot it just says:
Continues next month in Transformers #56 and Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye #56
One-shot doesn't spoil current MtMtE storyline.

Read Titans Return.
The best bit for me is the MTMTE section that was used in the preview. Sorry.
Although MTMTE 55 ISN'T spoiled by Titans Return RID/Ongoing 55 IS so if you're still reading Ongoing/RiD I'd wait till you have that in hand before reading.

Although I *haven't* read exRiD 55 and didn't realise it had been spoiled. But then I might have still been in shock following MTMTE 55...

56 in hand. Yeah, EX-Rid 56 really needs to be read first to explain where Sovreign comes from. Apart fom that pretty good stuff!

I was also confused by that bit, but assumed it had been covered in Titans Return #1 (which I haven't bought). Surprising, given that ex-RiD isn't due until the end of the month. It was an OK issue, but I'm surprised Prowl had forgotten Garrus 9 so quickly. He's been put through the wringer in the last year, but I find it difficult to believe he'd forget Aequitas. He could be bluffing I suppose, though I'm not sure what his motivation would be. Maximus also looked a little odd. I initially thought it was Generations Sky Shadow when flicking through the issue.
