I shall addend my above prick-post with the note that I typically am late to discussions anyway, and when I do join in I'm never the one who brings the news, just notes on it. So if the solution is a thread of it's own I'd be fine with that. I do use spoiler tags in the comics sections, but that's typically because a big part of my enjoyment of a comic is speculating where things could go next, and I've been right often enough over the years that my speculations could be argued to be spoilerific. Not all the time, obviously, but enough for it to have gotten creepy...

Woah. That is some ninja proboards-foo going on there. Much respect to anyone who can read this forum using recent posts! Not a criticism at all, simple admiration. I tried it that way and having all the threads colliding with each other did my head in! I couldn't follow the order. I'm a lowly recent threads man.

Eh, in terms of stuff like comics etc, if it is a new release (ie last week or so) stuff should be spoilered. And I know a lot of people here read the forum using 'recent posts' rather than go by thread. For your first point, I don't really see why; if it's a spoiler thread it should be your responsibility to avoid it. I can maybe see that you need to show extra caution if you're going to guess where the story is going, but even then, I'm not convinced it isn't a case of reader beware. For the second point, there are also lots of people who don't, though they are likely to be the less vocal users. This forum is friendly, well-established and informative but I think it would be improved by fewer rules.

I think, if I gauge the responses right, that we're feeling that a separate thread for leaks etc is the way to go. So: I've set up a Generations Leaks and Rumours thread, which we'll use for everything new except for that which is revealed by Hasbro themselves. Leaked Images, Transmissions Podcast, Rumours etc etc You can find that thread at tmukhub.proboards.com/post/239808/threadWe'll use the other threads for discussion of what's already out there, what's been revealed by Hasbro (intentionally or not) etc etc. I suggest we let it run for a bit then review how it's worked post the next big set of reveals at San Diego Comic Con in a couple of months time. In the meantime I'll move this thread into Welcome to the TMUK forum so we know where it is and this time can remember what we agreed. I'll also try and track down the previous discussions on the matter and move them here as well: I looked and they proved hard to find.

I can maybe see that you need to show extra caution if you're going to guess where the story is going, but even then, I'm not convinced it isn't a case of reader beware. I think "do we need spoilers is another discussion worth pursuing. As I said above Rogue One is a good example, we've moved all the Rogue One discussion to a separate thread and that seems to be working. Which in turn means the "anti knowing things about Rogue One" people aren't using Recent Posts. Indeed the solution to leaked images we've gone with implies you don't use Recent Posts. And I know a lot of people here read the forum using 'recent posts' rather than go by thread. For the second point, there are also lots of people who don't, though they are likely to be the less vocal users. I am conflicted about Recent Posts. It's REALLY useful for reading everything that been posted since you last look, and since I got God Modded I do read EVERYTHING to the point of opening spoilers! (I knew everything that happened in The Force Awakens long before I saw it but there we go) On the other hand, due to the lack of a reply button and removing the reader from how the thread progresses, it's encouraging the over use of quoting which is a real pain to those who read by thread. Generally if I see someone's just quoted the entirety of the previous post I'll cut the quote. As well as fixing quoting levels, nasty spelling errors, broken links ..... This forum is friendly, well-established and informative Here, here. Several of you will be aware of an experience I had elsewhere earlier this week that left a very bad taste in my mouth! but I think it would be improved by fewer rules. I don't think we have that many do we?

More than I'd like, but there you go:)
And yes, I'm a recent threads viewer. I read a lot more threads than I post in but there are plenty I never look in. I think Star Wars and MTMTE are quite different and a separate R1 thread was the only sensible choice. I would have said it would have made more sense to have a separate thread for TFA as well as a kind of ongoing one if people like to talk about general stuff like cheese and the like. MTMTE is one ongoing thing. Star Wars is many discrete parts, quite a lot of which is done and dusted.

I think we've learnt something from the TFA experience then!
But at the time TFA came out it was the only SW thing happening really. Now there's lots and probably a thread for each film is the approach to take going forward.
So what rules do you think we have then? (Apart from Do Not Mix Your Drinks!)

Maybe not 'rules' so much as it's just super tidy:)
But if we're suggesting rules, I'll go with 'always flush when you're done'.

If things are tidy you can find things when you look for them ......
...... but seemingly not the conversation where we previously agreed what we'd do about leaked images. Either interpretation! I've looked!!

I read the forum solely by use of the Recent Posts page, which I scroll through generally once in the morning and once in the evening, often without logging in. It's just so convenient. There are some things for which any sensible person would use a spoiler tag, e.g. only a troll would post openly in Star Wars VII's opening week that Han Solo dies. Or indeed in Civil War's opening week that Bucky killed Tony's parents, and Scott Lang can also become Giant Man. And to be honest, I won't take kindly to anyone who openly posts major Game of Thrones spoilers for a season that isn't out on DVD yet. Martin

Lego spoiled that second one, Martin! Stop connecting the vague dots for me!! Not seeing it until tomorrow! Spoiler tab, please!! Nothing wrong has been done. They are not responsible for Lego putting out a set a few months ago. They have also not identified the set in question! Lego movie sets often lie anyway. Remember the Mandarin 'final battle' death buggy Iron Man 3 set? That never happened in the film! -Ralph
