The basic concept of Overlord is essentially the same as the Duocon: two vehicles merge to form one robot where the vehicles aren't a robot by themselves.
It's been bugging me all week, are there any other TFs that share this idea?
The only ones I can think of (Multifirce, Energon Autobots, Crash Combiners) all have individual vehicles for their robots

There is sort of the inverse case with the Ice Cream Truck Twins from ROTF.

Very good point, and ups the ante by doing it with three vehicles. I nearly said vehicles/beasts above and then thought better of it totally forgetting Magmatron. Any more for any more?

I honestly think that's about it.
I'd kinda like to see a deluxe or voyager Voltron/Megazord-like TF, where one robot splits into five vehicles/critters. Not drones, but part of him like the duocons.

Stealth Force may not have individual robot modes but they don't have a combined robot mode either.

Some more. First TWO sixes Sixgun Metroshot Then there's two single vehicle mode, but named characters, that combine to form a robot: Gasket + Grommit = Cog Finally a bunch of multimode characters, with no robot mode, that combine to make a robot Raindance + Grandslam = Slamdance Beastbox + Squawktalk = Squawkbox Then, with a link for Ian who won't have heard of them, www.tf-1.com/articles/jtf_frame.php?art=dinocassGraphy + Noise = Decibel Dile + Saur = Legout

Don't forget that to go with Legout, there's also Legin. Ultimately, it transpires that that's what it's all about...

That is a very nice looking Overlord. Although I have to say... I think that Sky Shadow's a much nicer looking deco. But then Overlord was always a pretty... plain design.
I may be uttering heresies here, I know. But it's what I'm thinking about it right now. Which is utterly unrelated to the fact that Jo has said she'll burn any Overlord toy that I may ever buy. Definitely not.

Speaking of trousers, it looks like Overlords squeezed himself into his tightest pair.

Needs to be a demonstration of who wears the trousers here.... I tend to wear jeans. And I don't see how that's going to stop a crazed CDRW fangirl from setting fire to their nemesis. And I wouldn't blame them.

Speaking of trousers, it looks like Overlords squeezed himself into his tightest pair. He's the Jeremy Clarkson of Transformers. Which, based on his IDW appearances... kinda works.

I'm with Llama. I have no afinity with Overlord. Sky Shadow for me. His colours are awesome. I just wish someone had one in stock!

My affinity for Overlord comes from the original toy, which this reminds me of. -Ralph He is actually a rather good Overlord. Obviously, he lacks Mega-Sama and Giga-Sama, but apart from that he is a really decent job. I'm pretty impressed with him I must admit. That was my thought as well actually. Karl

Needs to be a demonstration of who wears the trousers here.... It is theoretically possible that we have just observed such a demonstration. Karl (Whose own past relationships with women left him in no doubt who was in charge in both cases...)
