Everything seems to get repaints nowadays. Apart from the stuff that doesn't. What molds surprised you which never got a repaint. What is your dream repaint of that mold?
For me, it's Jhiaxus. Only ever released in the orange/grey version homaging the Universe (?) version. Never got the G2 repaint. Baffling!!

Might be a good idea to define "modern." Because an argument could be made that "modern" begins with Generations 2.0, or Generations 1.0, or Universe 2.0, or RotF, DotM, Generations CW, Generations TR, Cybertron, Energon, or even Armada. One could even argue that modern began when ball joints and full articulation were introduced in G2 with the Cyberjets, Dreadwing, and the Laserrods.
And should a remold count, as it itself is technically a reuse of a mold. Putting it in the same ballpark as a repaint. And do same character with only minor adjustments count, such as CW Magnus, with Legends Magnus, and Platinum movie anniversary Magnus?

Really it was just to avoid discussion about G1 repaints, rather than repaints you might expect. Hasbro really went repaint-mad RID '01 onwards, I struggle to think of that many figures who haven't been, but there are some surprises!

Hasbro really went repaint-mad RID '01 onwards, I struggle to think of that many figures who haven't been, but there are some surprises! I see Hasbro and Takara reinvent their engineering processes and tricks every so often, which completely changes the line. This is why I consider RiD to be Beast Era because all the new molds use the exact same engineering processes that Beast Wars and Beast Machines do. Then Armada created an entirely new way by relying on ratcheting joints and other similar things, that have been the hallmark of the line until the first movie, which reinvinted a method that was used largely until DotM, which then invented a NEW era of similarly designed toys until AoE. From AoE, all the lines have been fairly simplistic and very cheaty. Hasbro also usually seems reluctant to use molds that existed before these change overs, in more recent years, as well. So I'd hazard to say the true modern molds are AoE to now.

Beast Wars is really the start of EVERYTHING gets repaints/remoulds.
Of that I can't see anything, beyond a slight Japanses deco tweak, for Insecticon, Snapper, Magnaboss, Manterror, the basic Fuzors, Injector, Scourge, Optimus Minor, Sonar & Scarem. And the basic Skunk who's name escapesme but is all but identical in RID. Everything else has been used again I think
YOU could argue K9 and the Cyberbeasts, but they're remoulds already so....

I would argue RiD or Armada was the true start of "everything gets repaints." Beast Wars didn't really have that mindset. The japanese lines were serving a different market and using existing molds to pad out their lines. Most BM never got repaints. And True, most BW/BM figures have been repainted, it came after during the first Universe, or were trying to come up with cheap product to pad the line (BM Dinobots, Fox Kids repaints, and such). RiD wasn't even that terribly consistent about repaints either. It really wasn't until Armada that Hasbro genuinely kicked into the "everything *must* have a repaint" mindset.
(And it wasn't until Cybertron that they seemed to start to get the hang of it, but that's just my opinion)
And if you're saying a minor color change like Platinum Magnus is enough to count as separate from CW, then japanese releases should count too, as many often have more dramatic variations than Platinum releases.

Do you count convention stuff as a repaint/remould? Cuz I don't think Generations Hot Shot got anything, except that Botcon Dion.

And yeah that was odd, but then again we never got a proper repaint of Astrotrain and Tankorr either! (I think both got a mild shiny paintjob rerelease in Asia and of course the Henkei ones were different, but everything else from that line got repaints out the wazoo)

If memory serves Hot Shot has major differences between the western and Japanese versions due to the weapons.
Both are rubbish though!
Energon Wing Sabre, Alpha Q and Swoop have never been repainted
