We saw Legends Astrotrain this morning and, surprise surprise, he's grey.
This follows the same pattern as Classics vs Henkei.
But what colour do you think Astrotrain should be?

White, black, and purple with an open fin on his chest, like his toy. Though the TR just screams wrong. Hasbro seems to think he was pure white, but he wasn't. He was a bit creamy, or off.

As a non-cartoon person, clearly white.
But what about the Japanese G1 toy scheme? I liked that!
That said, the Henkei grey Astrotrain looks gorgeous and far nicer than the US white one. Sometimes white plastic can be really hard to pull off without looking cheap.

Astrotrain. Hmmm. From what I remember... He was red and yellow and green and brown. And scarlet and black and ocher and peach. And ruby and olive and violet...

Hmmmmmm, my G1 toy, that I still own, is white... but I must say I prefer him in cartoon grey....

Depends - different Astrotrain's are different colours. The one in the Sunbow series is grey and what might be purple, but the one in the Dreamwave comic is white. The US toy is grey and purple, whilst the Japanese one is black and white. The Henkei is purple, grey and white, the classics white, black and purple. Then there is the grey and purple version from the Fan Club. The translucent purple Mini-con Astrotrain...
Different Astrotrains are different colours, meaning their is no single answer to this question.

Not white like the original Japanese toy, but a creamy very light grey white like the toy as we know it. But I'm so used to Astrotrain in dark grey/purple no I've voted for that.

I like the grey, in fact it probably works better as a colour scheme, but I am bound by original toy colours. Probably.

You are grey. You stand between the neon and the white.

If you are The Grey at the moment... does that mean that should you fall with your mission incomplete you will be sent back to the world again as The White? As happened before to one of the Maiar in the time of old?

Huh? OHH! OHH! That's a Lord of Rings reference, isn't it?! I don't believe so. You are grey. You stand between the neon and the white. We are all grey .... (Phil can't think of a way to complete that)

Gandalf the Grey, who fell in battle with the Balrog of Morgoth, and reborn as Gandalf the White.
That's what I got from it, anyways...

Well done, big Phil. :-) Although, of course, JMS was, himself, referencing Tolkien's works in his own writing. So anyone who thought of Lord of the Rings isn't completely wrong.

Huh? OHH! OHH! That's a Lord of Rings reference, isn't it?! Presuming that you were referencing my post, then yes it is - it was a reference to how the Maiar who mortal races knew as Gandalf the Grey was sent back to Middle Earth as Gandalf the White after he fell, as he was the last of the Maiar who remained true to their mission. Llama God's reference was, however, to Babylon 5 and the Minbari Grey Council. So it depends which one of us you were responding to. Karl
