A crisp sandwich is indeed good.
I also in my youth liked a jam and rice krispy sandwich.

Is there a specific definition of hot dog going on here? I'd have thought the 'main' place for hot dogs would be a barbecue. Sure, you can buy them in a cinema, but I wouldn't say hot dog was as synonymous with cinema as pop corn.

Chicken, ribs, steak, kebabs.
What a narrow world of alfresco cooked food Ralph lives in!

Sure, you can buy them in a cinema, but I wouldn't say hot dog was as synonymous with cinema as pop corn. To be honest for me the main place I associate with hot-dogs is an airshow. I find they are best enjoyed outdoors, with a good amount of onions, in a place where there is a slight aroma of burnt aviation fuel and smoke generator smoke in the air. Karl

More evidence of the proliferation of non-cinema related hot dog activities!

I was in ASDA today and they had a big display of Hot Dogs. I wonder why they are pushing hot dogs at this time of year. It is a mystery!!!!

This evening I watched a film where hot dogs were consumed in parks, on street corners and on bridges. They seemed to be everywhere!

ONIONS DO NOT GO ON HOT DOGS!
BBQ's are for burgers. You add tomato sauce, mustard and cheese. You toast the buns for the burgers. You eat them with joy.

Right, look. I can see how onions wouldn't go on those big floppy frankfurter hotdogs you buy in cinemas, which is where I think Ralph is with this, and I'm sure those are the dictionary definition of a hotdog, but there are many other ways to put a sausage in a roll and call it a 'hot dog'. Which is where the onions come in.
I have onions on hot dogs every time, but I'm a vegetablist so my hot dogs are always of the Lincolnshire style meat free ones.

Yes, I'm afraid the Good Doctor is highly mistaken on this. Onions on hot dogs and burgers are magnificent. And BBQs must serve lots and lots of different things to live up to their full potential. Sausages, burgers, chicken, kebabs, vegetables! ANYTHING!

How is cooking them on a barbecue any different to a grill pan in an oven?! They don't roll off those!
Why are we even having this conversation!?!

Grill pans have an edge to stop the sausages from rolling off! BBQ's do not! The sausages roll off and land in the grass!

Put your sausages on the bbq grill the right way and the bars hold them in place.
Pinwig, if you ever end up near my old manor in Kingston in sw London I can recommend a great (award winning) veggie restaurant there. The Kaptain will back me up on this as he's eaten there.
