Knocked off another 70 pages while waiting for Halfords to put a new battery in my car. Second half of this story is better than the first, which I think is unique for Class. The end is near!

No, three books. The soundtracks count should read 2/3 because I've done the CD and the bonus CD. Just the vinyl to go and I'll have done everything.

That book, What She Does Next Will Astound You, is easily the best of the three novels and better than the Big Finish stuff. It would make a good 50 minute TV episode and only suffers as a novel because it's a bit light for 337 pages. Interesting setup over the first 30 or so pages, then lots of padding up to the middle of the book where it changes gear. Cut the waffle and it would fit 50 minutes really well. It's good because universally I've found Class stories start out with good intentions but end up being too predictable or just don't go anywhere. The last third of this one borders on exciting in places. It doesn't go too deeply into any of the characters, just takes an interesting idea that's relevant to the target audience (its seated in the world of social media and online gaming but doesn't go the route of trying to say 'I'm cool because I'm down with the kids') and actually does something with it.
I'll say no more as I recall Ralph said someone else had bought these books. Of any of the Class spin-off stuff, this one is worth a read.

Done. The sound through my Dad's stereo was much improved on listening to the CD version on my own system, but I think that's his hardware more than it being vinyl. The discs are absolutely gorgeous - the first is a marmalade orange and the second the blue shown below. Beautifully presented and some lovely art inside the gatefold. But the music is still average at best and a disjointed listen because it's all little short bitty bits. At any rate. Game Over. Class count complete.   |
