Apparently there's some sort of fan vote to choose candidates for a subscriber vote for a fan-figure. Somehow some World of Warcraft looking chick won the he-man.org poll. What. www.he-man.org/news_article.php?id=2270And yes I know 'oh she was a comic character who was never in the comic' but still, how did GELDOR not win? Apparently he won the German fan vote though! God bless you Germany!

Strange and cool.
Wouldn't a Ram-Man be lesser sought for if Matty finally did a Classics version?

IIRC RamMan is the only old MOTU figure that doesn't have the fiddly elastic legs and can still stand properly nearly 3 decades on. He's probably the only old MOTU figure worth army-building.

Ummm. Errrr.... I can see one or two obvious flaws in his plan.... Also, the plan is bonkers - and not in a "we have missiles full of nanorobots, not even the Joes can stop us" kind of way.... Karl

It's bonkers isn't it? I can't get my head around it. Does having stock in a warehouse for 3 days (over Christmas no less) create a devastating effect? I mean the entire run sold out! There's not even stock for replacements (there's a reviewer who can't get a replacement for his borked one). If it's sold out, it's not like they were expecting it to sell any more!

How many times does he say "going forward" in that letter? What does that even mean? Going forward in time? As opposed to what?

There's not even stock for replacements (there's a reviewer who can't get a replacement for his borked one). If it's sold out, it's not like they were expecting it to sell any more! In Matty's world, selling through all the stock and thus making as much money as possible from that stock is not a definition of success. They want it to go back to product selling out in minutes/hours...but when that was happening many fans walked away from the line/bought elsewhere because it was so difficult to actually get the product from the source! -Ralph

During my 9-month spell working for a Big Company it was said roughly every 5 minutes, like it was some kind of special meme. It means: NOTHING AT ALL. -Ralph

Ah, so it's like saying "er..." but with more syllables. -Nick One of many phrases in corporate speak which when analysed evaporate leaving no content behind. The corporate world is more riddled with that than politics. Looking at the Matty statement it seems to me that they are viewing the He-Man line as something where they want to have presold the entire production run before it even reaches their warehouses. They want the model to be "sell item, produce item, ship item. Repeat", rather than the "produce item, sell item, ship item" model that you get with a retail release. Karl

When they move to subs-only the line will die. Look at how the subs dropped when it went over the $500 (!) mark.
I do quite fancy a Wind Raider and Fisto when I have the spare cash.

No Ralph you are only allowed to buy the Wind Raider and Fisto on the day Mattel decree, not when you 'have enough money'. That would be too convenient for you!

But...but...I, the customer who actually likes their product and wants to support the line would like to be able to buy it! I want to give them money!

It is pretty weak argument that holds no water. However expensive it was, it sold out. Therefore they have made asmuch money as it possibly could have.
Bullshit response.

Had it been a product that was designed to be produced due to number of pre-orders and pre-orders were low I can understand how it could perhaps not be financially viable even if every item sold...but this was not sold on that basis as it was not part of the subscription line.
It was bumped 3 months and increased in price by $5 from how it was advertised yet still sold out quickly and made as much money as possible. But the company is unhappy with how it performed?
I will never understand Matty business practices so long as I live!

As observed, they sold every single unit, at the unit-price they decided to charge for it. So if it performed under their expectations... then surely this can only mean that 1)their expectations were very unrealistic, or 2) mathematics is not there strong point.

Matty are still freaking out about the Wind Raider taking 3 whole days to sell out: he-man.org/news_article.php?id=2386"At the end of the day, it just took too long to sell a very small number of units." But...that is still a 100% sell-out! In under a week! And it's not a made to order item! I will never understand Mattel. -Ralph
