So one of Skeletor's mad schemes to capture Castle Grayskull by *literally* capturing it went even more Pete Tong than usual and this was the result. I think it's quite neat.
I just picture the guy sitting among the foundations looking confused when the other Masters find him.
"What's your name, hero?"
"Castle... Grayskull... man?"
It's exactly the right kind of ludicrous for a fancharacter. It reminds me of that episode of Doctor Who where the bads put the Tardis in a lady.

I am slowly warming to Castle Grayskullman.
LOVING the other reveals though! Giant figure of a guy who's appeared for one page in a minicomic? Yes please!
And the three-pack of 'Fighting Foe Men' who are based on the pilots for the vehicles on the snap-together-kit box art? That's my kind of obscure character!

This year's MOTUC subs numbers are apparently 60-70% off what they were last year (source : the brand manager's many online comments). Not really a surprise as Matty now want a subscriber-only line and no longer are interested in day of sales numbers/folk picking and choosing. Well, if you're telling your customers (many of whom do not want every single figure) that they have to shell out $500+ unknown shipping charges without telling them what the full line-up of figures for the year are then that's what happens. And they want to stay in business???
If costs have indeed shot up (which probably is a contributary factor) why not offer a selection of tiered sub options? Or have the subs open all year round not just one small window? Or reduce the size of the line? There are 2 figures a month plus giant size ones and quarterly specials as it is so there is room for wiggling while still being able to put plenty of product out.
I will never understand Matty so long as I live!

That is a very large amount of money to shell out in one go, especially when you don't know exactly what you are going to get for that money. Between that and the other issue they have been having I can see why numbers are declining. But I would have thought that it would have been a wiser approach to explore other ways of making it work rather than simply shouting at the customers as Matty seem to do.

Huge price hike + not telling customers what they get + 4 years of consistently shit service from Digital River (whom Matty subcontract for handling orders) = line on life support.

The line's rapid descent into the ground continues (the true desperation comes in at the comparisons to the price of coffee): he-man.org/news_article.php?id=2765Such a shame. -Ralph

I wonder if they'll even get enough subs to break even.
I doubt it.

I think they are fooked. Going to a subs only model is fine, but you have to scale down the line first to keep the cost affordable for the customer base.
Such a shame. I have really enjoyed the dozen or so figures I picked up from the line. Great work from The Four Horsemen.

Hmm that isn't how I read it.
Anyway, it's obvious to even a child that a subscription only model gives diminishing returns. People will only hop off the wagon, not onto it as they can't get the original 'major' characters which have all been released and are 'sold out'. Unless you were in at the beginning, your collection will always be incomplete unless you brave ebay.
I refuse to believe that Mattel don't have any warehouse space at all, or can sort out a website that sells more than 6 products at a time. It's inconceivable.
