I couldn't see anything else that would give me a chance. Your Knights are annoying because they're guarding four spaces around my king and when I try to move my rook or queen it gives you too many options for quick mates. My king needs some support so he's got to get over.

Right, I've played through as many possibilities as I can fathom from this point but it just feels like prolonging the inevitable. Trying to think what you might do though leads me to think that c3 is the more interesting path.

If c1, then, by my calculations, you'd have had to give up your Queen to avoid a quick checkmate. Knight takes Rook on d1, check. Edit: it's amazing isn't it, there's only one move, only one.
