I did wonder. Is there anywhere online that's actually praising this? I'm not a facebooker, but Chris McFeely tells me that Facebook love it. I know there was a lot of praise on Reddit too, but less so lately. The thing that is making me wonder is a lot of stuff that gets hate, people say "oh it's just the continuity obsessed crusty fanboys". What if we are the outdated ones that are wrong? If the tweens on the Facebook and Tumbler really enjoy it, what if this is the shape of transformers and we are wrong for hating it? |

Discussion in pop culture online has become increasingly binary and aggressive. It seems it is no longer ok to say you like/dislike someone without belittling and mocking people who have a different view. A recent example was The Last Jedi film were folk who liked it screamed at folk who disliked it and vice versa. Social media is training people in these attitudes and also everything is COMPLETELY SHIT or BEST THING EVER. Opinions such as 'it was alright' or 'some of it I liked, some of it was bad' seem to confuse people. Very sad. I thought Titans Returns was a bad cartoon but I have seen comments online from people who really enjoyed it and that is just fine. -Ralph |

For me, it's the inconsistency of the the show that ruins it. There are parts where the animation looks like a high quality update of G1, and other parts where it looks like it was drawn by a 17 year old media studies student on MS Paint in the mid 1990s. There are some decent ideas in the script, but more often then not it's poorly executed. And the voice acting is variable as well.
