If that really is the price, then I wish two things:
-They didn't bother with a display stand. Of this really did cost so much, he doesn't need unnecessary costs like that.
-and I wish that they retooled that Generations Rattrap mold to bump it up as a worthy MP, and followed Dinobot with it. Overcharged a bit for Rattrap, recycle some accessories (maybe dismembered Gen Waspinator limbs), and used it as a way to cover some of Dinobot's costs. 'Cause I can't think of a way for a newly molded MP rattrap to do much more than Gen, other than cover the beast belly.
All that said, my god... he stepped right off the screen!
I have to say, I think these Beast Wars characters lend themselves to masterpiece figures more than the original Transformers because they came from that bit later on in terms of design. These look like Masterpiece figures because they're spot on to the toon versions, whereas the hybrid 'is it an improved toy/is it supposed to look as plain as the cartoon' confusion with the G1 stuff means the style is all over the place. Put a load of G1 MPs together and they don't look like the same line - these really look good together.
Very good points on all fronts. And yes, they do all look so good together. And I thought that the original Transmetals line was good for show accuracy. These are, truly, "masterpieces", and not the "incremental improvements" that we've received elsewhere.
I must say though that I agree with others, in that I'd have happily taken a slightly smaller Dinobot without all those accessories if it meant that he'd be a little more affordable. And after all, Primal and Cheetor also come with multiple faces, and so on, and don't cost anywhere near that silly amount.
This is going to be a difficult one to decide on, basically. It looks great, but... that cost. Yeah.
I want to see how the head folds into the inner body that all folds out on itself. The images just shows either dinomode or robot mode. Not showing any change

That's... way too big. Isn't it? I always thought that he was in line with Rhinox, who was slightly taller than Primal. But...
That Rhinox is made to a different scale. So Dinobot isn't too big, Rhinox is too small.
Also, they were never consistent with Dinobot's size. Sometimes he was equal with Primal, sometimes bigger. Usually equal to Rhinox (who was always bigger). Sometimes equal to megatron, sometimes smaller.
Blackarachnia and Silverbolt tended to waffle, too.

Given the creatures they turn into, most of the Beast Wars characters have... issues...with scale. (Due to the various settings they are seen in and the consistent portrayal of size we can rule out mass-shifting shenanigans). Dinobot s one of the most egregious. Either he is a ridiculously large Velociraptor, or Optimus Primal is a gorilla slightly smaller than a turkey... Either of which are pretty amusing ideas really. That's before you get to Rattrap, who is beefy even for an ROUS let alone a normal rat. :-)
Better not to worry to much about these things. That way lies madness.

"Have you reached the point of no return?" Chrvches, Heaven/Hell.
Dinobot does seem to be cartoon scale accurate, at least in height, but just seems massively to big. I dont know if in the process things have required him to gain bulk or if cartoon scale just looks crazy in toy form. The generations toys dont help, but even if they werent there Primal and Cheetor would still look small.
They've been using using the Generations figures along side Primal and Cheetor which more or less worked, yeah Rhinox was too small for cartoon scale, but it all fell nicely between cartoon and toy scale which was a decent compromise. Now thats completely kaput.
Shrink it down by 10-20% ditch the stand and get the price down about £30-50 and I'd be all over it, as is its a pass.
He's in the same class as MP Megatron in terms of size. Same price bracket. £160ish.
By that I mean in terms of the UK import shops. He's actually 28,000 Yen compared to Megatron's 23,000 - so the fact he's turned up here for the same price shows us he's either a bargain, or the exchange rate's changed again.
Yeah, that's nice. Very messy in beast mode, but that's to be expected given the form. Still not entirely sure if he's worth the cost, mind you. But nice.
That does look to be a different class of toy compared to what we're used to. Very stylish display piece. Glad in not interested enough to want to fork out for it!
