I'll be at Bristol Anime that weekend. I wouldn't mind going to Birmingham Brick Live at the end of October, but probably won't make it because of plans for the Saturday that weekend.

YES!!!!
In all seriousness, it is a fabulous fabulous show and there is often so much to look at that I go both days. There is also a selection of talks and it all takes place in the fabulous railway museum which your ticket also gives you full access to.
One year I had a shot in a working electronic LEGO wheelchair...complete with cup holder!!! Another time some engineers from Boeing had made a working (revoving) 1:1 scale Boeing jet engine!!!
There is also a fine dealers room and the Brick Cafe.

Whilst I had fully intended to come down for this, and would still like to, I don't kniw whether I can make it. I am further advanced with the process of attempting to buy a permanent home in this fair city than I had expected to be - and as a result somewhat closer to large legal bills, removal expenses etc... I'm not prepared to say yet that I definitel won't make it, but the likelihood is clicking down steadily. :- ( .
Ah well. If I can't manage to make it happen this year, being properly settled will mean I will be able to plan properly to make it happen next year.

Nick, are you still in Brum then? You could pop down.

Sadly, I am forced to confirm that I am not going to be able to make this year. The big rock of home-buying is hurtling steadily toward me and, whilst I probably won't be settling the bill with my solicitor and finishing off all the legal shenanigans this week it is definitely going to be on this side of my next payday. Much to my chagrin I'm not going to be able to join you all this year. Have a fantastic time, and beware - for next year I should be in a much more settled position and able to make my first appearance in a "Crisis on Earth Brick!" event!

:-( Oh dear. Do drop by for a visit when you're more sorted.
I thought "I'll be clever and see if the Pizza Express will take a booking".... Nope, won't for Saturday lunch time!

I will be there both days but meetup day is Saturday. Doors open at 10am. There is usually enough there to occupy a full day but you can get back in with ticket after popping out for lunch.
It's best to be there before 10am as the queues are usually long to get in and you can get to the Lego shop before it is cleaned out...

Earliest train I could get comes in at 10am (unless I wanted to get there 2 hours earlier, which I don't!)

It isn't, and I believe there's a short cut under the railway line Google MapsRight out the station into Station Road which becomes Sheppard Street and then becomes London St. Just after it meets Emlyn Square turn right into the Great Westen Underpass - a big set of doors in the wall which brings you out round the back of the steam museum.

Been up since 1am wheezing with lurgy. Had a shower to try to get some energy to make it to train but knackered. Not well enough for 6 hours on train. Not happy. -Ralph

I did also check to see if I could change my ticket down for this evening or Saturday if I felt better but no dice. I either need to submit "written evidence" or provide a letter from GP or Hospital, which is not going to happen for common lurgy that lasts for a few days. **** you, Virgin Trains!
