Still waiting on Toxitron, Counterpunch and SG Starscream to complete the CW Combiners.
Not doing then leader jets until they come with opening cockpits and Titanmasters for heads.

Now that's something I'd like to see.
Well, that and some other mold improvements. Dunno what - just improvements. I'm not fussy.

But Phil then they would be Titabs Returns not CW. You can't expect a past toyline to have current toyline features. Moons o madness! -Ralph

CW Leader Megs is kinda useless. It's out of scale with everything, and weird sculpted. It wasn't very thrilling at the time, and we've since gotten two other megatrons that do the same thing, only better.
I honestly think bringing back the leader class in Combiner Wars was just completely pointless. Ultra Magnus still could have happened in TR, and there wasn't a single other leader release in that line that wasn't pointless. Starscream shouldn't stand almost evenly with Superion.
CW would have been better served by sitting on that pricepoint until TR, and putting it's budget into deluxes and voyagers.

I very much suspect that BOTH Megatrons and Ultra Magnus were, like Jetfire, developed for T30. Megatron and Magnus tie into the MTMTE theme while Armada Megatron pairs with Armada Starscream.
All 3 fit far better there.
The Leaders get delayed - either for manufacturing/development reasons or Hasbro just doesn't want a new large size on the shelves the same time as Metroplex - and end up coming out late T30 - Jetfire - or during CW.
Can't fit the leader jets into the theory though: Hasbro's completing the FOC jets in T30 and starts Legends jets too - Starscream was released, and contemporary computer listings show Acid Storm was going to be Thundercracker originally

Don't be seduced by his lies, Ralph!!
I dunno. Combiner Wars was always going to have a leader class, but I think that Hasbro just didn't know what to do with it. It's WEIRD that the leader class doesn't share the gimmick that the rest of the line, even the basics, does.

(apart from the basics that dont turn into add-ons, I guess)

Combiner Wars was the first, "proper" unified Generations line though (as opposed to the previous Generations lines where they just put out whatever they thought was cool) that was meant to be sharing some sort of theme, so I guess it's understandable that they didn't quite get it right first time. But from that experience they got it right for Titans Return. And then forgot what they'd gone and made a pig's ear of it again for Power of the Primes...

I think the proper unified theme for Siege is working for me and activating an unusual completist urge. Everything fits. Other lines have felt more pick 'n mix.

That wasn't a complete line in the same way that Prime Wars onwards have been. Those lines were always kind of "Generations Featuring Toys from a Certain Theme".
