Dredd TV show 'announced' as in 'there is a poster and a couple of quotes' with a production company I've never heard of.
Hmmmm. We shall see!

The latter video there has Molcher (2000AD's PR droid) stating "you have about two years" before the show hits the screens.

BBC are heavily advertising the "massive budget" that's been dedicated to it, fingers crossed

I like that it's going to be an ensemble cast approach.
Dredd on the periphery sometimes makes him more powerful.

Indeed. For a TV show to work it couldn't be just about Dredd himself. I hope this goes somewhere and does not turn out to be vapourware. I am always wary when something is announced before it's in production.

So, having sifted through the various bits of PR related to the Dredd show the status of it appears to be this:
-Rebellion, a video game and comic/book publisher with no TV or film production experience wants to make a TV show with a budget of over a million per episode. -No broadcaster or production people other than a producer and some writers. They do not have a studio or actors. -They have a poster and a distributer. It seems they need to raise money. -That's it.
A somewhat premature announcement! I hope this gets made but at the moment it looks like vapourware.

could be a kickstarter or something similar, i know there was a lot of rumors about doing one to fund future movies. Also it would have to be big budget due to the kind of scenery/locations needed.
On the positive, rebellion are probably the right company to be involved since they do produce good comics on the subject at hand?

Making video games and comics is very different from making TV.
Frankly, I think it's daft to announce a TV show before financing etc is in place. This puzzles me.

its probably the way to get financing in place.

This is not usually how folk go about getting financing!
The more I think about it the more this announcement is utterly ludicrous!
'We want to make a TV show! Somehow!'

its how most networks do it nowadays, since a good pilot is so expensive, writers and merch companies/makers announce it to the public, log how many positive social media posts etc they get, then they can convince a network to pay towards the pilot, if not the full amount. not orthodox but its the way most companies work these days.
