Combining ROTF Devastator incoming. Looks like 6 deluxes and 2 voyagers.
It it asking too much to hope they are using (as much as possible) CW connectors. Because oh the fun to be had with that.

Love Shatter. Glad Cogman is getting a rerelease. Now lets have the same for Hotrod.
And Studio Series is now hellbent on reminding me exactly why i generally hate movie designs, with the constructicons.
I couldn't bring myself to buy any of them during RotF, when they had the benefit of not combining into that awful devastator.
Though what really torques me off is back during RotF, they said a fully combining Devestator is not plausible. Too complex, and would be too expensive for kids and collectors. Back when deluxes were $12, and voyagers were $20. And when their engineering techniques were at their absolute peak.
Now that deluxes are $20, voyagers are $30, and have no quality control, plus sketchy engineering, is when they decide to try it.

What's even worse is that having said it wasn't possible, Takara went ahead and did one anyway. At Legends scale. So that always sucked. I suspect someone at Hasbro was telling porkies, or just didn't care. And let's face it, since we didn't see the individual vehicles turn into robots before combining anyway, it's not like we were missing any movie accuracy... (Yes, we did see some of them with bot modes. But those were - due to when and where they showed up - not actually parts of Devastator. It was just lazy model re-use and/or bad editing that put their scenes in the wrong places.) Whatever the case though... I kinda like that Devastator design. I like how it's more monstrous than humanoid. So... I think I'll be attempting to perform this task of collecting a whole run of Hasbro figures to complete him. And I'm sure that Hasbro will help me out here with good distribution of their product every and easy availability and no I'm sorry I can't finish that sence. |

I just got the GoldVolksBee w/dinotapes set, and there are several revelations I was not prepared for.
I was not prepared for how small he is. He's tiny! Only as tall as the scout class RotF Hubcap.
I was not prepared for him to actually be a decent mold. Everything I've gotten from this line has been at least sketchy in QC, if not as bad as a straight up bootleg (Except for voyagers. The voyagers I've gotten have been at least adequate). But while he's not the best quality, he doesn't fall apart, and everything seems to work as intended. And the joints, while loose, aren't floppy.
I was not prepared for exactly how shitty the dinotapes are. It's no wonder Hasbro bailed on them way back when.

Saw the Leader Blackout in the plastic briefly this weekend. He does look very nice, but I can't help wishing that he was smaller. Much as I like his design, and the alt-mode that he has... I live in a flat now. I have around half the living space I used to, and less than a half of the storage space (I used to have a loft instead of just a cupboard. Between the price point (when you start thinking of it in equivalent purchasing power and realise it is five HG Gunpla kits it starts to look a bit pricey) and the fact that I have nowhere sensible to put it...
Looks great, but I'd rather it was a deluxe.
