Works better in the greater context of PAD's longer Hulk run. The status quo would regularly change. Still the best Hulk run for me.

It's cracking, shame PAD's run on X-Factor is so short-lived.
Have you read his Spider-Man 2099?

No. Is young Peter Parker still struggling with his relationship with Aunt May in the year 2099?

These comics are gloriously colourful and epic and simple and innocent. It wouldn't do for all comics to be like this, but it's a joy that such comics exist.

More Stan & Jack Thor for Martin next then? Aye, verily and forsooth! (Yes, please.) Hm, I have a vague memory that I once (mid-'80s?) owned a single issue of a UK comic (possibly with 'Spider-Man' in the title) and the only thing I can remember about its content was a story with Hercules and Sif together in some futuristic alien landscape. Can anyone identify this comic and/or story? Martin

Right you owned an issue of Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends, somewhere between 567 & 576 which reprint Thor 234-236 Yes! Now I remember! They were fighting that Kamo Tharnn chap who wouldn't let them borrow his staff. Must be part of the story from Thor #235. Wasn't printed in colour though, as I recall. Martin

The early Stan Lee / Steve Ditko Dr Strange (Epic Vol. 1) has now drawn me in and I'm rocketing through it. Like the Thor, the language is wonderfully over-the-top. And I actually quite like the 8-to-10-page story format.
The covers throw me slightly as they all feature the Human Torch (sometimes alongside the Thing) and advertise completely different stories - Dr Strange just being a backup strip in 'Strange Tales'.

Yeah, Lee was not a fan of the character and didn't understand the popularity. He often avoided pushing him on the covers and would insult Ditko in the letters pages.

I don't think anything Dr Strange has been in comes close to those Stan and Steve issues.

Ineed. I had read them before in black and white but not in colour and they were the perfect size for a 'page filler' at the back of an issue without losing any content from the modern material being printed.

Ah! The Human Torch and Thing have been replaced on the covers by Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD.
Dr Strange surprised me, after 18 standalone stories it launched into a year-long multi-parter as he fights the alliance of the Dread Dormammu and Baron Mordo. Nine chapters in, Strange is about to meet... Eternity!
