Does anyone else do this?
Bought a MISB DOTM Shockwave last week then remembered I bought a loose one a couple of months ago and even had a conversation with Pinwig about it. Its the 4th or 5th time I've done it. I think the reason for it is I tend to buy a lot of toys at the same time and then don't have the space or time to get into them when they arrive so they go in holding cupboards for months until I get round to them.
The MIB Shockwave was only a tenner so its not a massive deal this time but I understand why you guys have Spreadsheets.

I've never done this with transformers. But I did it yesterday with Miraculous! ladybug figures.
I found several Ladybugs and one Marinette (her real identity) on clearance for $4 each. I thought I had Ladybug and Chat Noir at home, but wasn't sure. It may have been Adrian and Marinette. So I got both and would send the extra to my sister as a surprise gift. Got home and it turned out I had both.

I still don't have one and I don't think I can justify THE BEST prices for a movie figure, so I'll buy whichever one you want shot of if you want to recoup your losses?

I'm certain I have done this, but I can't remember what it was with. Probably ten years or so back when the new series Doctor Who figures were at their peak.
I have knowingly bought doubles of figures I didn't need before now, either because they were duplicates in a case or because they were so cheap it'd have been rude not to.

Never happens with new Transformers as my 'fun money' is very tight so purchases are infrequent and budgeted for (for the most part, there is the odd red haze). With older figures, however, I can't always remember what I still have and what was given to Toy-Fu (about 3/4 of my old collection) so there is a risk of duplication if I go down the vintage rabbit hole ever again!

I have done this a couple of times, got two Generations Soundwaves and something else that eludes me. It doesn't happen very often now but with everything being boxed up it's getting harder to remember what I do and don't have.

I don't think I've ever done this accidentally. I have almost done so - movie Wreckage, but my instincts saved me at the last minute. Other than that I've only ended up with duplicates of a handful of things - the movie UAV bloke, where I had two of the olive drab version as foot-soldiers to go with the Tokyo Toy Show blue version and Tank Drone are the only Transformers I can recall doing it with. I've also got two of the 1/48th scale VF-1S Valyrie - but that was because one is for "clean" and one is wearing a set of Strike FASTpacks so they aren't identical in terms of loadout.

So we've looked at Multiples of Gnaw and I've admitted to buying multiples of POTP Dinobots as well as owning both the Titans Return and Legends versions of most recent toys. That started with CW & Legends Magnus but their colours and partner are different. I would have like more TR Scourges but never saw them cheap (if anyone does...). I've also got the original and rerelease of both Skrapnels and Cosmos. 2 each of CW Rook, Blast Off and Smokescreen. I did have 2 CW Battle Core Op - one donated his hips to Op and went in the Toy Fu pile.

I've got six TR Gnaws, and three Legends Sharkticons. I've also got three TR Scourges and swapped their heads with my three Legends Sweeps. (Legends Scourge is main Scourge).
I've got four CW Prowls, whom are repurposed as autotroopers, and given to Battlecore Optimus (decked out with the repro Thunderclash conversion kit).
I've also got several Fox Kids Waspinators, who are headcannoned as clones of Waspinator.

I remember thinking Viper would be a good army builder until I got one in hand and thought 'one is enough'.
Really, Gnaw is the only Transformers I've ever had troop builder mania for. Having said that, I think the Primemaster Pretender toys are ideal troop builders when they go on sale. I can just imagine an army of Skullgrins marching against the Gnaws!!!
