The holes on the yellow surface of Razoclaw's feet are what the cannons plug into. The instructions are VERY unclear on this matter. It appears the cannons actually plig into the back of th shoulders!

Are the box sets going to on sale in the UK or skipped like Devie?

Who knows? But I don't think the chances look good. TRU are gone and Trypticon hasn't sold well.

Good lord these guys are really really bad. I wish I'd gotten to mess with them first, because I'd have never bought them.

Oof really? Does the combined mode make up for it?

Combined mode is fab, bar the slightly dodgy sides to the side of the waist.
I combined mine and they've not been out of that mode since.

I mean. Your mileage may vary. And Predaking is a lovely figure in his combined form.
But...
But...
And it's not just that. They've given what appears to be literally no thought to the individual characters via the limbs. This is the best I could get Tantrum to manage:
And Rampage is pretty much limited to this. His hindquarters not shown in the alt-mode pic because they were a mess:
I mean. Yes. They are toys. And if these were in the Cyberverse line, they'd be fine. But they're not. They're in the collectors' line. Given the progressions made in toy engineering in the last couple of decades I would have expected much better than this. Hell, the main-line CW/PottoP deluxes and voyagers do much better than these high-end pricepoint toys.
In fact, that's what I think I would've preferred - figures at the normal Deluxe (and one Voyager) scale, with the extra costs going into better articulation and decos. Hell, you could've had them all Deluxe, but Divebomb as the Voyager with his wings making up the bulk and doing the same transformation thing they do for the actually released gestalt.
Very much a missed opportunity.
But stay tuned to my Twitter feed to see how I cope with the rest through the week!
Or don't. I'm not the boss of you.

Since I typically couldn't care less about combiners, no combined mode could ever make up for how ridiculously rubbish the individuals are. Not only are they badly designed, they are full of tension only joints. A small tab would go a long way to holding the waists of rampage and divebomb in place. They just flop about under gravity. This also ruins their arm modes, as their lower arms just hang limply straight down against predaking's body.
They are incapable of holding their weapons, as the pegs are too short, the guns too big, and the fists set too far below the wrists.
Positivity: Predaking is better than Devastator (The predacons are not better than the constructicons, though). Predaking more stable than Devastator. The way it combines is somewhat clever, though it's what ruins the Predacons.
None of these make up for it's flaws. It's not even remotely close to being worth it's price. Individuals are badly designed, sub-par materials are used with bad engineering and poor quality control. Like... lower than what we usually get from Generations. NuRiD and Studio Series level poor QC.

Llama sums it up better than I did.
Additional positive comment, the pencil thin waist photographs terribly. It's not nearly as bad in hand. I agree, voyager divebomb with the same waist/back transformation, with everyone else being deluxes would be fab. I'd pay the same price for this with better quality (and CW compatibility for at least Rampage, headstrong, and tantrum)

The hollowness of Razorclaw in combined mode is.. something. The more I look at them, the more I really, really dislike Devvy and Preds, which is a shame.

Arg! I didn't buy Devvy because of talk like this, then regretted it afterwards. Am I now not going to buy Predaking and regret that later too?

I've only experienced these in their combined mode -and can attest that at that time Phil's Predacons were not decombined. The combined mode Predaking is absolutely fantastic. It has an enormous shelf, well, table, presence. If the cost of that is the individual members having less budget put into their individual modes... That is pretty much the same trade-off that the original Predaking toy made. The individual members of that team were...not great... So it could be observed that in repeating that pattern their successors are simply delivering an accurate retro experience... :-)
I actually agree that they look like quite fun toys. They look like the sort of things that are quite fun to get down from the shelves and fiddle about with. In this they are somewhat distinct from a lot of the Generations line, which seems to prioritise "Displayability" over play-value a lot of the time. (Some of the CW combiners are not really much fun as toys to play with, whilst looking quite good on the shelf for example).

Another negative note. Divebomb and Rampage are on the wrong sides.
You CAN flip them, and put them where they should be, but the shoulder paint aps for arm mode are now hidden, and the holes that the shoulder guns are now on the front (I really don't see why matching peg holes couldn't be on both sides)
Edit: I didn't realize, but headstrong and tantrum are also flipped, and are on the wrong sides.

I quite enjoyed Devastator (I have the UW version) and look forward to getting my hands on Phil's Predaking! I don't care one jot about how toys display or what level of articulation they have, I care about whether they are fun to play with. I shall pass judgement in due course on these.

The the the limbs are the wrong ways round?!?!
Oh my Godfathers, that'd drive me CRAZY!!!!
Sounds like they were designed and made purely with Predaking in mind. Which is a shame. Devastator managed to achieve a decent ballance between individual and combiner IMO.
Thank goodness I'm not going to be True Friended a Predaking.

That's not worth buying a second Predaking for. Especially since they went and completely missed a trick by not providing a socket for a Prime Master in the hilt...
