Is the new Firedrive Battlemaster actually one of the Takara Targetmaster moulds? He looks very similar.

So being called WFC I as assuming pre Earth. Glad to see I appear to have been wrong.
Sideswipe continues Hasbros efforts to make budget versions of the masterpiece line which I quite like.
A new Prime, based on the original G1 design also makes me happy. For the vast number of G1 Primes recently this is till the first voyager to go back to basics since 2006.
No need for a new Hound, but no surprise since it was an option on the Choose the new Prime vote. I can see how the alt mode might suit the style of this line and the Universe Hound is a decade old now.
Targetmasters save me money on importing deluxes I already have so thats good too.

Ironhide looks like they where starting out good but then it goes rubbish with the toy is backwards isn't it - the rear screen being the chest. I need to have a good look at the toy

The rear window being the chest isn't the problem. It's a brilliant solution to getting the iconic look out of a completely different vehicle.
The problem is the basic engineering is heavily HEAVILY flawed. He's awful.
• the diaper shaped crotch not really connecting to anything and giving him weird posture
• the rear section of the SUV being too large, making him look pot bellied
• his head being forced to always look down inside his chest
• the weird panel cuts along the side of the SUV, giving him oversized feet
• hands perminantly wide open like he's about to slap someone, when most hands of the time were a standard 5mm-
...OOOOH!!! That's why Ralph likes him!!! He's not 5mm peg compatible!!!

It's the worst Transformers mold ever made. It makes me angry just to think of that mold. Doc' is clearly insane and needs to be locked away. Planet Zero isn't far enough.

It's late and Phil has had an odd thought: what if the WFC Micromasters are reissues? I'm not sure I can see new ones doing any better for articulation, especially in light of Firedrive. So why not just reuse the originals? One can only hope! |

I dunno. The original minicons were pretty much the spiritual successors to micromasters, with (usually) better articulation, and more clever transformations.
But Hasbro also has long since abandoned the quality and complexity needed to achieve the original minicons, and the last time they approached something akin to these, we got the micromaster targetmaster accessories in the generations legends sets, which were below the standards of the G1 micromasters.

Optimus is repainted into Ultra Magnus, makes me happy!
Optimus also looks a lot better.
Micromasters seem to be Minicons 2.0
I adore Universe Hound. One of the best TFs ever made. But I WANT THIS HOUND.

That looks brilliant. I’m quietly hoping they’ve mistransformed Magnus’ shoulder missiles, but otherwise what a cracking mould. Is he still voyager class? He only looks a biit taller than Optimus there.
All the micromasters and other transforming weapons look great fun. I’ve got major hopes for this line now, if not for my bank balance...
