Not a dealbreaker but a shame the individual vehichles for Flywheels don't have robot modes when the Battletrap ones did. Yes, a shame they couldn't have been done the same way. Can't help but feel that Reflector should have been a box set of 3. It's designed that way! Anyone able to find links to that interview with time codes? Even at 3 per case that's a whole case worth's gone to the first collector who walks in. Looks like I don't have very much to add, 'cos we're all on much the same page here (and, yes, 25 other pages).
Despite feeling ambivalent going in, the first reveal I saw was Shockwave, and that bananas power-up mode immediately grabbed me. It makes no sense, and I love it. I wouldn't have even cared if he'd not had the Voyager robot mode. But he does. Hurrah! That's a must get.
Quite a few of the others are mediocre, though. Megatron looks nice enough, but like the Optimus Prime, does nothing new. (Yes I know that technically he does, but it's not distinct enough from recent iterations to interest me.) Starscream initially looked interesting, but having seen how he's all just kibble and a fucking mess, that's an easy skip.
Soundwave... Soundwave Soundwave Soundwave. He looks good in robot mode. I still don't know whether I like his alt-mode, although I can appreciate Toph's excitement. But mostly I'll be getting it so that Ravage and Laserbeak have somewhere to live. Ravage and Laserbeak!
Not sure how excited I am about Flytread. It doesn't look like he's made of two smaller robots, which is a shame.
Reflaktor... is, yes, going to be a fucking nightmare to find. So yeah, I'll pretend he doesn't exist.
And Brunt! (Not played by Jeffrey Coombs, alas.) Not at all fussed about him as a character, but he looks great. And a little like those Guardian droids from Stormbringer. Definitely need to get him.
A very mixed bag. But a cheaper year. So that's something.

Apart from the shit-splash effect, I'm loving these. I am getting divorced next year.
Look at Shockwave without the the the octopussy thing going on. He's beautiful! A good tank voyager Megatron. Voyager Starscream. Voyager Soundwave with cassettes! Optimus looks better and better! Aw no, I'm loving this line.
EDIT: AND none of their fucking heads come off and turn into little tiny people! Yeay!

These all look fine, but Generations is eating itself by this point, alas. It seems to have have given up on new, er, old characters with each iteration and is stuck in a loop. These look like decent toys. I'm not annoyed or Internet Raging. I'm just left feeling...why? *shoulder shrug* -Ralph

Reflector and battletrap should have been swapped.
I see nothing about Reflector that would be diminished by being a legend class. He looks pretty simple in both alt modes, and three duplicate legends are cheaper than three duplicate deluxes.
And Battletrap would better match his buddy.

Reflector would have perfectly suited the beefed up Legends scale, which would have made the whole 'NEED TO BUY THREE' thing more palatable. And Flywheels CLEARLY needs his buddy done properly where he doesn't have to stick his own head up his own arse. |

Brunt: Robot  Vehicle  Most of the transformation is obvious: side treads become the arms, front of vehicle the chest. So the rear of the vehicle must be the legs right? But there's not much there to make them from as you can see from what he breaks down into - the waist unit is at the back, flanked by the arms.  The parts at the front.... on the right we have the turntable for the cannon on the tank, which sits in the middle. The cannon on the left then must be the chest, with the side barrel and energy blast from the tank cannon attached. You can see the side barrel and energy blast poking up over Brunt's shoulder, which might lead you to assume the tank cannon is on his back: it's not. The tank cannon splits in two down the centre and forms the lower legs! The pieces sticking up from the top and bottom of the middle of the canon are Brunt's feet. |

consider me disappointed that they didnt find a way to use Combiner Wars connectors for Brunt.
Consider me happy that Flywheels doesnt have seperate robot modes, or at least happy that the combined form looks more like the G1 form. Im guessing in part it might be because Flywheels has had a presence in MTMTE and never introduced seperate robot modes. Even though MTMTE was the series that introduced the idea of Duobots being two seperate robots which seems to have been the inspiration behind Battletrap.

I think Shockwave will be a full size voyager.
From what we've seen so far the deal with this series is prioritising G1 as possible robot modes. For UM they prioritied the Leader class form because thats the one used in media. I'll be shocked if the priority wasnt on the voyager version of the robot mode.

I'm with you on this, Shockers. I'm more excited by this line than by TR or PotP. This is CW terratory. There's just an irony in that in trying to put a new spin on old characters with the Cybertron modes and battle damage, they're alienating the core fans who want these toys as much as the others already put off who don't.
