Hopefully they'll be in stores here by December. Well. Wave 1 will be. All other waves will be online only, of course. Do not trust to Hasbro - they've fooled us before.

The same size as Gnaw? Surely not! He's a Voyager! Gnaw was a Legend! Ralph needs more Gnaws. -Ralph Yup. Scarily small alt-mode. Just seems one of those toys that's super compact in alt mode, and then expands outwards during transformation, as the robot mode is the same height as PotP Grimlock.

His alt mode is in scale with legend class cars.

After nearly a year of nothing but PotP wave one, and empty shelves... all my local stores have now suddenly filled up on the final wave, across all size classes (except leader). So no wild-caught Siege for me.

Good L-
You took the Lord right out of my mouth, Toph.
That's tiny. Also, robot mode is Grimlock height? that's definitely the smaller end of the Voyager scale. He's going to look a little stout compared to the CW one.

Yeah. I’m fortunate in that my collection has never been particularly scale based, so I’m happy just buying whatever bots look cool, and this Optimus definitely qualifies (although I’ll be tempted to try and remove the “battle damage” paint from his legs).
I’m also glad that the prices have gotten a bit more sensible after the initial PotP listings. Between that and the comments on the improved plastic it sounds like Hasbro might have learned a few lessons.

What an innovation!!! -Ralph

THE INTERACTION WITH EACHOTHER SCALE!!! Objection your honour: That is not a scale! That is the relative size of the toys. It is quite possible to have two things be the same scale and be radically different sizes. For example - I have a VF-1 Valkyrie that is only two thirds as tall as my YF-19, in fighter modes the YF-19 is a third longer and has a wingspan of a third greater than the VF-1. Both of them are quite different in size, but are the same scale. They are both 1/60th scale, which means that 1-inch on the toy represents what would be 60 inches if they were full-sized. It is just that the YF-19 is a far larger, heftier and more powerful beast than the VF-1... Scale is always measured in reference to the degree of reduction in size which is carried out in making the smaller version - not in terms of the size of an object in reference to another object. It is possible I may have been hanging out with Nelson and Murdoch, Attorneys at law, a bit too much recently... :-) Karl

I will always be reasonable about a toyline being imperfect, and will except a VW being the same size as a lambo in order to put them both in the same pricepoint. But there's also not that big a difference between them, and there's no existing price bracket that would serve the beetle better (not since they canned the scouts).
But such a thing is much easier for me to accept than putting a monster like the A-10 in the absolute smallest size in a group where jets it dwarfs are a much bigger size, all in the name of accuracy to a 35 year old toyline cobbled together with toys that were never designed to be put together.
It also aggravates me when child sized characters are the same size as adult characters (robin/slade in the old Teen Titans, amongst many many others)
I'll accept without complaint reasonable attempts that are moderately hindered by what they can do with what they have. But it gets under my skin when tiny things are huge, and huge things are tiny, for no real good reason (such as minicons and micromasters are intentionally miniaturized versions. That's their plot point)

Masterpiece Optimus Prime cannot be displayed with, and cannot fight/play with, a Generations Voyager Megatron. They are the wrong robot mode scale. If your collection doesn't focus on characters being next to or interacting with other characters in a shared media, then that's cool. My collecting however revolves around characters interacting with and being stood next to other characters from the same shared media. These characters have an ideal size in robot mode which is determined by the shared media, and by my Mind's Eye.
....I forget how this conversation got started....

So Prime isn't small in truck mode, Gnaw is bigger than we think!

Post by Shockprowl on Nov 6, 2018 10:12:33 GMT
Yup, he's small. In both modes. Very small in truck mode. CW Motor Master looms over him, in robot mode Prime only comes up to the top of his chest. Prime is... slender too. None bulky. CW dulxes, with their chunkier smoother look, don't look quite right with him. Megatron, though the same height, is bulkier, and works better. The aesthetic has shifted. Prime does look nice though.

Just watched Baltmatrix's Sideswipe review and I think he's definitely just been added to my "must buy" list. I hadn't realised just how nice his car mode was.
Also, and this just occurs to me with Optimus as well, painted rims! This seems a massive improvement from Rodimus Prime's glaring wheel pegs.

Hmmm yeah, I hadn't quite clocked Prime's rims. There is some nice attention to detail. Behind the glass in his windows looks great, for example.
I JUST WISH HE WAS A BIT BIGGER!!!
He's surrounded by Stunticons again on the side by my chess board, distracting me from my correspondence game. I... I might be getting my head around to his size and aesthetic, in terms of him fitting in with older CHUG. He does LOOK good!
