If the War for Cybertron does not eventually feature a brand new G2 Jhiaxus, and the rise of the Cybertronian Empire, then the entire legacy of Transformers is a complete failure.
Siege Optimus retooled as Rook- everything needed to change is largely superficial. New head, ditch the smokestacks, replace the chest windows, legs, and the truck front pieces
Brunt, with or without retooling would make an excellent Mindset.
With new heads, and maybe other parts, Hound, Sixgun, Flywheels, Soundwave, and Shockwave would all make excellent generic troops.

I would prefer the line to evolve into new ideas, especially as the comic fiction will be directly supporting it.

To be fair, the nostalgia line is all about redoing old things. It is the selling point of the line. There should certainly be plenty of new ideas in the other lines though!

A couple of posts in Hopes, Predictions and Resolutions 2018 have set me thinking: PREDICTIONSNemesis Prime from Leader Optimus or CW Voyager Optimus Might not, given we're already getting evil black rodimus. They may feel that evil black optimus is a little too repetitive for the same line. So we got the Black Op as Nemesis Prime to go with Rodimus Unicronus and we got a black OpOp too. All three leaders got repaints. In fact since the Leader class returned with Jetfire in 2014, every Leader class mould has had a repaint/remould: T30 Jetfire - CW Thundercracker, Stasrcream & Skywarp CW Megatron - CW Armada Megatron CW Ultra Magnus - TR Powermaster Optimus Prime/Seige on Cybertron Magnus Prime (Legends Ginrai) TR Blaster - TR Soundwave TR Sixshot - Chaos on Velocitron Quickswitch (Legends Greatshot) TR Blackshadow - TR Overlord (Legends Dai Atlas) POTP Optimus Prime - POTP Nemesis Prime POTP Rodimus Prime - POTP Rodimus Unicronus POTP Optimal Optimus - POTP Throne of the Primes Optimal Optimus Evidence suggests Siege Ultra Magnus becomes Siege Leader Optimus Prime. So...... What's Shockwave's repaint/retool? And where's it going to be released? Carried over into WFC: Episode II? Exclusive?

I'm hoping that whenever the inevitable black clone Nemesis Prime repaint shows up, it uses Ultra Magnus instead of Optimus.
And I really REALLY hope you're dead wrong about Optimus retool of Ultra Magnus. The absolute last thing we need are TWO g1 styled Optimi in the same Generations sub-line. Multiple G1 styled Optimus in Cyberverse. G1 styled Optimus in "evergreen." Multiple G1 styled optimus in Bumblebee. G1 styled Optimus in Studio Series. A third G1 styled Optimus in Masterpiece. AND G1 OPTIMUS HIMSELF.
But you're probably right.

There should certainly be plenty of new ideas in the other lines though! -Ralph Might be time to quit Generations as a nostalgia line and run it as an line for older fans given the 'younger' line of RiD/Cyberverse is now so well established. Would save Generations from its currently inevitable course of self implosion.

I was the one who let you know, I was your sorry ever after, '84, '85. Give me new toys and I'll decided, but I'm really only after, '84, '85.... (One does secretly worry about the line disappearing up it's own arse, as The Doctor puts it... How long can it actually keep going? Same characters, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.....)

Interesting to watch the video reviews for Magnus and Shockwave. They’re noticeably smaller than previous leader classes. I’m definitely still onboard for Magnus, although I do think they’ve overdone the battle damage. I’d be ok if it was just thinned down a bit.
Looking at the shoulder missiles it does look like they could be pegged in more inline with the blue shoulder sections for a more traditional look, rather than raised up as they’ve been in most pictures which pleases me.
On my phone just now, so not sure about embedding, but hopefully this works

I cannot wait for Shockwave he looks AMAZING!But I worry for his size. Still difficult to judge without DECENT PIGGIN' SIZE COMPARISONS!!!! I -think- he's going to be ok. He must be the same height as Siege Optimus and Megatron without his octopussy armour stuff. Pleased he looks very spaceguny without his extra bits in alt mode. I am glad with Seige that I’m not a collector that’s worried about scale. Seeing Magnus next to PotP Rodimus would cause some to flinch I think. Mode me though what’s telling is we’re seeing a dramatic quality increase to go along with a sligh size decrease. I’ve been really enjoying the ankle tilts on the deluxes which we never tended to get in mainline releases. Also the hollowness has decreased sharply too with more focus towards covering gaps during transformation. Hasbro have clearly been going in one direction with design until now, and this is an attempt at something different. Heck, even with the complaints I can’t fault them for trying to add the additional paint apps with the battle damage. Heck, I guess they’ve even been more experimental with the Studio series line, highlighting scale and aiming for a more affordable collectors line. Although for me I prefer how much more solid the Seige figures are. I’ve only played with 3 Seige figures so far (and hope to replace the defective Optimus I got soon) and I’ve been blown away in comparison with PotP, which while it had fun figures, wasn’t a patch on how solid these have been. And yes, very pleased to see Shockwave’s “submarine” mode in there 😃

But I worry for his size. Still difficult to judge without DECENT PIGGIN' SIZE COMPARISONS!!!! I -think- he's going to be ok. Oh no he isn't. Size comparison to a standard Voyager in that video: All these Siege figures are coming in a little too short to work with the Prime Wars ones. He's the same height at the head as the Prime Wars Voyagers when he has all his armour attached! ie, as a leader he's even shorter than Siege Magnus! How can they claim this is a leader?! it's a new definition for the size class.

How can they claim this is a leader?! it's a new definition for the size class. Oh dear. That is disappointing. (Not as disappointing as to the Hub deciding it doesn't want to include images in quotes any more, mind you.) But on the other hand, maybe the Prime Wars leaders *are* generally too big - they tower over the other figures, which for Blaster and Soundwave especially just doesn't work. So having leaders which are now just a bit bigger than their normal-sized troops might be an improvement. I don't know... As to Shockwave repaints, that is a good question. The obvious one is that they'll do a Radio Shack repaint, although given that turns him from dark purple into grey I don't see how that would be at all attractive to standard consumers. Or maybe they'll retool the head and chest and make him a leader class Megatron? Which makes little sense, I know. Although... there is a version of Megatron that turns into a spacey-type gun submarine, and that's Galvatron. So maybe a retool into Galvatron to go with Ultra Magnus? It'd be too soon to fit in with the timeline of the story they're telling, such as it is, but as far as 84-85 characters go (and no thinking outside those boundaries! Do not stray!) I can't think of anyone else...

The size reduction had concerned me but now I've had a shot at the line in-hand I will take the improved build quality and look of the figures if the trade-off is them being smaller. At the end of the day I'd rather have a smaller and heftier figure for my pennies than a larger, lighter and cheaper-feeling one. Along with the loss of the crappy quality stickers it does feel like complaints regarding previous lines have been taken on board.
It also helps that I don't care about scale.
The 'battle damage' and extra-detailing which looked so bad in photos actually look (to my eye) just fine in-hand.

Siege Op and Megs are shorter than previous voyagers, so... I'm hoping he's going to be ok. Need to see him next to the other Siege voyagers! Damn silly size comparison choices!

Ralph owns Cog.
Encourage him to use Cog's parts as weapons, or at least split him into Gasket & Grommit, like the original did
