Is this the Takara release or an unexpected rerun of the Hasbro release?

It looks like it's getting a rerun, like several other toys

If the pics are of the right toys they're the Hasbro paint job.

So it turns out that if you do a limb swap with Blowpipe and Aimless, you get a really effective Derrick Yaniger G2 style BFG.
...and a completely useless (to me) solid sky blue gun that someone who likes Targetmaster or Battlemaster toys could figure out something to do with.

Hasbro missed a good toy - they did do Ratbat. But he should have been like the Orion Pax/Optimus Prime toy. So we get a IDW like Ratbat with the cassette Ratbat coming out of the head section. unless a 3rd party toy has been done?

Many, many, many things in retail are delayed or in short supply at the moment due to brexit/covid/rising shipping costs and problems/shortage of drivers.

Yesterday I saw that a local pharmacy somewhat randomly now has Siege micromasters on the shelf, Powertrain/Highjump and Stormcloud/Whisper, after previously only having a bunch of Jumpstarter KOs!

I do miss the lovely battle damage deco of the early Siege era. I am sad it went away. It was a bit different! -Ralph I think you're on your own there. Retrospectively I think Siege would have been better if the alt modes had been more interesting. At the time we were willing it to be G1, but with hindsight if we'd known Earthrise was coming, Siege could have pushed the envelope a bit more. That way the battle damage would have been fine and it would be a worthwhile collection in it's own right.

Of every character to make an appearance in siege that was in the sunbow pilot, only two were shown with alt modes (Starscream and Soundwave). Meanwhile, the other three (Bumblebee, Jazz, Wheeljack) were completely ignored. The likes of Optimus, Prowl, and Sideswipe, I said at the time had absolutely no canon reason to look like regular earth cars with a bit of scifi gribble on them. Particularly when the existing examples actually looked like alien vehicles.
Siege was an absolute abominable failure. Even at the time it was only acceptable in a "This is pretty close update to the 84/85 characters" sense. Which was then completely decimated the following year when almost every single one got a proper update.
The more time goes by, the more unreasonably angry I get about what a waist of their resources, my money, and how creatively bankrupt Siege actually was.

I mean hell, CW Hound makes for a better Cybertronian Hound than Siege does.

Generally speaking I liked Siege, but mainly because of where it lead me too, i.e., a very nearly complete collection of the '84ers in a unified scale, with some excellent figures in amoungst.
But I agree, CJ, Siege was very strangely executed. Just not Cybertrony at all! And then they re-did so many of them in the very next line! I can't complain too much, 'cos it gave me good Prowls, and good '84ers. But the entire thing was odd and disjointed.

Siege might have worked better if it hadn't immediately been followed by Earthrise and Kingdom which redid large portions of the Siege cast in Earthmodes which rendered the nearly but not quite Earthmode of Siege redundant. Of the deluxe and larger mainline toys the following all have a subsequent Earthmode toy: WFC-S7 Sideswipe WFC-S9 Autobot Hound WFC-S21 Ironhide WFC-S23 Prowl WFC-S35 Red Alert WFC-S41 Barricade WFC-S43 Autobot Mirage WFC-S11 Optimus Prime WFC-S12 Megatron WFC-S24 Starscream WFC-S25 Soundwave WFC-S39 Thundercracker WFC-S13 Ultra Magnus The following Siege toys haven't had an Earthmode remake, mainly cos they didn't need one WFC-S8 Cog (Weaponizer) WFC-S10 Skytread WFC-S20 Chromia WFC-S22 Autobot Sixgun (Weaponizer) WFC-S36 Refraktor WFC-S37 Brunt (Weaponizer) WFC-S42 Autobot Impactor WFC-S48 Spinister WFC-S49 Crosshairs WFC-S38 Autobot Springer WFC-S50 Apeface (w/ Spasma) WFC-S14 Decepticon Shockwave WFC-S40 Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Prime WFC-S51 Astrotrain WFC-S28 Jetfire WFC-S29 Omega Supreme (w/ Autobot Countdown) The real annoying thing is the lack of the three Cybertron mode Autobots we do see Transform in MTMTE. The MTMTE jets, Soundwave and Laserbeak are all reasonably well represented by their Siege versions

The thing is you can see from the difference between the Siege Alt modes and what they've done with the Sunbow Bumblebee and Jazz that Siege was never supposed to be Sunbow-centric. Siege had to be close to Earthrise so they could reuse the moulds/engineering. We had to have Siege to make Earthrise economically viable.
