They're all great, but I'm going Kickback for a number of reasons, even though I acquired him last.
- Insects have six independent legs. Kickback has six independent legs, the other two have four wheels. - His head turns. - He has a Tommy gun. - He has the best name, with a quadruple meaning. (He has a powerful backward kick, his Tommy gun also has a powerful backward kick when he fires it, he's a charming guy who likes to kick back and relax, and he's a con man who takes kickbacks.) - He has four arms in robot mode, which can optionally combine into two claw arms. I liked to clip the Tommy gun on his lower arm and rest the upper arm on top of it.
Edit: Also, Transformers whose function is espionage have higher ranks than those who are warriors. Kickback is a spy, the other two are warriors. Therefore Kickback has a higher rank than the other two and is technically leader. But he's a charming, laid-back guy, so in the comics he lets Shrapnel suck up to Lord Straxus and act as boss.

Bombshell because he did the cool mind thing and did more in the comics

Bombshell because he did the cool mind thing and did more in the comics If this poll wasn't in the toy forum I'd probably vote Bombshell for contributing the most to TF fiction - the adventure game book 'Peril from the Stars', 'Plague of the Insecticons', 'Aerialbots Over America', the original G.I. Joe crossover mini-series, right through to the Irwin Spoon saga that concludes the Earthforce story arc. If it weren't for Bombshell's cerebro shell tapping into the Creation Matrix, there would be no Decepticon Special Teams. Martin

All three are so so good. Toy-wise, but also personality and ability-wise. Just so well thought out.
I need to think about this one. Again.

Shrapnel all the way. Alien looking robot mode and cool insect. Looks good from every angle.
Kickback only has four robot arms because of his naffness in robot mood. Sorry Martin!

Martin Ah see, I am voting on the catalogue pool based on my primal childhood urges where all you had was the catalogue and what snippets of the comic you'd seen at the time. For me, my entire knowledge of the Insecticons was that one tiny picture and Plague of the Insecticons

Absolutely Kickback. Pretty much for the same as Martin's reasons. he also has a very 'neat' looking robot mode and I wish Marvel hadn't given him hands - the claws work really well.
I've decided to vote on these polls on nostalgia and on what toy I wanted to spend my pocket money on when I first saw the new toys (ie the one that stood out to me).
All three Insecticons have a great dynamic between them.

Kickback is the shit Insecticon toy. He is the one that is bought due to completist urges. Pish. Martin is once again WRONG.
The best toy by far is BOMBSHELL. There is no other acceptable answer.
Second best is Shrapnel.

Kickback also does fuck all in media.
Shrapnel: ELECTRIC BEAMS OF DEATH.
Bombshell: TAKES OVER YOUR MIND.
Kickback: STANDS IN THE BACKGROUND.

Always liked kickback’s Robot form. Alt less so. The most recent toy has the worst alt of the three I think. But I never owned Shrapnel until I bought the Generations figure earlier this year, and my son broke bombshell’s antennae last week so Kickback it is.

Although I do like the way Bombshells head is buried in his shoulders with his cerebro gun on top almost acting like a head. Sometimes it seems it's the weakest toys in a subgroup that are given the best characters: (Springer, Slingshot, Swoop, Wheelie come to mind) I'm sure Starscream was given the more prominent characterisation because his colours were not as 'cool' as his two brothers. (Although some of the toys I mention above are my favourites).

Even as a kid I thought Kickback was rubbish. Turns into a grasshopper. Grasshoppers are shit. They just sit there rubbing their legs together to make pish dance tunes.

Shrapnel. First and only for years. His "I LIED!" moment from the comics. fun vocal tic in the cartoon. And last year I got to hear his actor speak lines I had written for an audience.

In the next poll I am going to lie (or am I?) about what I think first of all, and then see what Ralph says... Then I'll reveal my True Thoughts! (Or will I?)
Shrapnel has the greatest potential for slapstick comedy routines involving trying to walk through doorways, or providing somewhere to hang the washing, etc.

Yes, but if he shrinks to insect size all the laundry will end up on the floor.
Plus if someone calls Shrapnel's name (say, because they need somewhere to hang their hat and coat), and he turns around to see who's calling him, then he knocks over the guy standing behind him and pokes the guy in front of him in the eye.
Endless hilarity!
