I retroactively use the Machine Wars Megaplex approach a near identical body double/bodyguard.
Archforce and Megaplex for Megatron.
Really just take your pick with Prime. Sureshot, Firecracker, thunderclash, Ginrai, Star Convoy, Magnus, Powered Convoy, Piss, Pepsi (either version).

Well, I voted for Archforce because I liked him in Decepti-combat on the yahoo group a million years ago so I definitely didn't vote for the toy, sorry Also, what kind of a name is Archforce? I guess it's arch as in enemy but I prefer arch as in saucy.

Good point. Completely failed to think of it in those terms. Doh.
Though I shall now forever think of the saucy angel Gabriel.

Also, Archibald Force definitely needs to star in an early evening ITV murder mystery.

In CG2 we had the Last Autobot take Prime's consciousness from his Combat Hero body and place it straight back into his original body (thus proving that he may have been the Last Autobot, but was the First Geewunner). Primes Combat Hero body, made from the Swarm, stood idle in Autobase until Sureshot the Targetmaster came along a few issues later and it consumed him - giving him his new body. He could also turn into the Swarm when he wanted to - a bit like the Decepticons in the Age Of Extinction film (but cooler).
That is how I see these two - and I guess as it would have been the same body each character used, then it makes sense to say there should only be one toy.

Of course the Last Autobot hated G2 - it stopped using his face as the Autobot insignia!
That was when we still wanted the Movie to come after G2. We also said G2 Megatron was a Mega Pretender shell that had the original Megatron still inside with his head sticking out the top.
But with hindsight, a more interesting story might have been one where the robot who we _assumed_ was Prime at the end of G2 #12 was never really Prime at all, but was _already_ Sureshot...

Finishes TOMORROW! I have been looking forward to, and indeed dreading for multiple reasons, tomorrow ever since we started! Dreading For Multiple Reasons..... One of which was obviously the identity issue, which I knew would complicate things whichever way we went with even after we sorted how many polls with a vote on the matter. And sure enough..... But much worse is I have to decide between two of my favourite Transformer toys as I genuinely love both of these. I've reviewed them at tmukhub.proboards.com/post/33448/thread and the post following.

What about this DOESN'T say Optimus Prime to you? You mean aside from everything that DOES say Onslaught? I had never considered the Onslaught angle before. I'm clearly a fake G1-fan. Obviously this was a Decepticon plot to disrupt the Autobots from within. During the chaos caused by the Swarm's attack Onslaught was given a quick paint job, and the Autobots, being quite used to assuming that Prime would just come back from the dead by this point, bought it without question.

even after we sorted how many polls with a vote on the matter It was entirely avoidable! There was no suggestion in the how-many-polls-poll that if we went with one poll you would omit the UK toy names from the options altogether. If I hadn't objected to that, others certainly would have, and you knew that! I have to say now, colours aside, the more I look at Prime/Sureshot, the more I am seeing Onslaught. Martin

EVERY time I say Onslaught looks like Prime or Soundwave I get shouted down. EVERY TIME!!!!!
But yes, a green camo repaint as Onslaught would work I think?
Is it the missiles on the back that do it? On Prime they make me think Smokestacks and Megatron, Fusion Cannons

Head sculpt, twin missiles on back aping the cannon, long nose truck with flatbed alt mode.

There's a similarity with the four wheels either side of the torso, but I wouldn't go as far as saying that mould would make a good Onslaught. It would need a new head for a start; that one doesn't look anything like Onslaught. I get what you're saying, as a reimagining maybe like the Universe one, but as the original Onslaught? no, no way.

There are so many things I should hate about the Prime toy. Wrong sort of cab - long nosed vs cab over - wrong colour cab, odd short trailer merged with back of cab, wrong colour legs and fake chest - ALL things that wind me up on other toys. Let alone the idea of Optimus having a huge cannon with missiles!!!!!!! But somehow this REALLY works for me. Cheapest Prime to buy to date, not towering over his forces like PM Prime. The first lightpiped Prime. Fun gimmick. And articulation we could only have dreamed of a year or two back and not thought possible on a TF this small! (I thought the articulation here was great for the size: the following year just blew my mind in that respect!) Much prefer the Euro version with no name, not keen on that with TFs. Much worse is to follow, come back Friday for one of the worst examples! The Op rated 3rd on my all time Op list! tmukhub.proboards.com/post/155513/threadThe problem is Megatron did rather better tmukhub.proboards.com/post/156400/thread

Both CH Sureshot & CH Optimus are actually red and white RID Scourges out for some confusing time travel shenanigans.
I have voted for Sureshot & Optimus now. As Phil said, it was a novelty to have such a cheap version available and I remember liking the different look. His truck mode looks like a sort of shoe or slipper on wheels too!

So, my new theory aired on the Zoom call last night is that Cobra creation Archforce's full name is Arch-Enemy-of-Action-Force.

To say Phil got it tight on the zoom call last night for this most recent poll was an understatement.
The Sureshot/Optimus Prime thing got some discussion. I could see it that it's not Sureshot but it's Optimus Prime taking on the name. After all while Prime (robot mode) was consumed by the Swarm, Trailer and combat deck were not. So could have still been alive. (Somehow they then get beefed up to Laser Rod Optimus Prime and the other one takes the name Sureshot).
Jii came up with the idea that Sureshot was just the first Primal Apotheosis suffer and for bonus points if you only have the US one, the Optimus Prime name across the chest was the equivalent of getting a tattoo on your chest of someone else's name. He took the name Sureshot to go walking amongst his troops to see what it was really like on the frontlines, and didn't give out his name at first but was challenged and that was the best he could come up with.
