I may have just red hazed on reacquiring Bulletbike. I'm sure this kind of thing is the real reason why Phil runs these polls. Mind you, he's pretty good at shooting himself in the foot in that regard too.

Not that Power Masters have feet in which to be shot, of course, but anyway...
For me this one has to go to Bulletbike. Staxx, whilst clearly meant to be an Optimus Prime (probably, I guess), also looks very unfinished. Bulletbike's got the more colourful and interesting modes, and the better defined robot mode. So it's got to be Sidecarshoes.

Hold on. I recognise that blue fella. Didn't I procure him from the Fu for Ralph at a TFN a few years ago? Yes though I do not have his gun so he is unable to ride into battle. -Ralph

What I love about these chaps is that they are the omega of the original Transformers before Beast Wars. In the Generations Deluxe book they are the last toys. You start with G1 Optimus Prime...you finish with these!!!

I wonder if there is a way to definitely know which were the and last first Transformers designed.
I'm sure I've seen somewhere that what would become Sunstreaker was the first Diaclone; but which one went through the process of becoming a Transformer first? And then were the Power Masters the last designed? What is the 'true' end point?

Ahahahhahahahahahqhaha!!! -Ralph They were the last entry on the catalogue poll for a year or so before I looked at the end and decided to tweak the order. What I've chosen is an appropriate finish actually forms a neat bridge into what comes next.

Mind you, he's pretty good at shooting himself in the foot in that regard too. Yes, the last year hasn't been cheap and I think the Gobots may yet cost me more. I should be on solid ground in the months to come. *SHOULD* But the research has already cost me £30 on one colour variant and there's a list of ones I fancy building up.

And then were the Power Masters the last designed? What is the 'true' end point? I don't know how true it is, but apparently (going solely by product numbers) Eject would have been the first Transformer completely designed as a Transformer. Again, might not be any truth in it. As for the last (G1) toy, weren't some of the Brave toys originally going to be Transformers before they decided to make it something else?

Very much grey areas at both ends. Sunsteaker was the first diaclone design that would become Transformers, but Shockwave, Omega, Roadbuster, Whirl and Jetfire may predate that. Diaclone to Transformers? Who knows, we got most of Diaclone, mostly without major changes, but Id love to know the process that led to the few major colour changes and how they decided on which Gunrobo made the cut and which didn't. Why Prime first and not Ultra Magnus?
At the other end it could be anything. The MW Flipchangers were probably designed as a continuation of what is now considered G1/G2. Im not sure about Brave, but it wouldnt surprise me to find they shifted some WIP TFs over there when Hasbro pivoted to Beast Wars.

Re. Gunrobo, wasn't Megatron going to be a different Gunrobo to the one he ended up being? It's why he has the different helmet design etc in early Marvel and adverts. The one we had was used instead because if the add ons so he could be sold at a similar price to Optimus. I'd love to see the original choice done up in Marvel Megatron colours.

I only discovered this week (whilst reading the wiki, of course) of the existence of the Cosmo Countach, which was essentially the toy that would inspire the Diaclone that would end up becoming Sunstreaker: www.spencer1984.com/serendipity/index.php?/archives/49-Sunstreaker-The-Missing-Link.html So in terms of the very start of things, this seems to be it. Although it doesn't answer the question of which one was chosen to be the first *Transformer*. Also interesting, from the same line, is the Cosmo-Porsche: www5e.biglobe.ne.jp/~mikuro/sub1-6.htm Not quite the same, but still something familiar about it... (You'll have to scroll down a bit.)

I am indeed interested to know what was the first of 'The Transformers' and what was the last 'Generation 2' to see how the line evolved prior to the right hand turn to BW.

Despite having only 3 released Transformers versions, these two have a VERY interesting repaint history: After their original release there was a planned repaint as Jazz and Soundwave. This never happened :-( Poll on Monday. They then appear in the 2000 LED Powers Microman series where their handlebars get tweaked www.microforever.net/MicroMillenium.htmThere's also some limited edition repaints in the same line. They return to Transformers, remoulded handlebars intact for RiD as Sideways and Axer Their final appearance was in Robotmasters as Road Rocket and Doubleface Throughout all their TF appearances the Yamaha is always the Autobot and the Harley-Davidson the Decepticon. I *believe* they may be the only Transformers to be reused in another line and then return to Transformers.

Staxx wins thanks to whoever broke the deadlock in the last 24 hours! Uh-oh. I suspect this news will not go down well. As for which bike is best, it's a difficult one this week. Road Pig has the best colours, but Road Rocket has a better looking mold. Which one would I rush to the shops to get based on the catalogue photos? Hard to decide. I shall have to dwell on this one...

Roadpig has the better robot mode of these too - Roadrocket has always felt a bit awkward in robot mode and cannot walk through doorways easily.
So Roadpig get's my vote.
But we all know he isn't the best motorbike Transformer of this year.

Road Rocket. Looks great, and the idea he'd have to transform to bike mode in order to get through doorways tickles me.

Road Pig has red upper arms and knee joints on his cosell picture & toyfair catalogue picture .... ..... as opposed to a red head and gloves on the toy. BUT the bike mode in the catalogue picture is the toy version - you can see the red head peaking through: The red gloves are an obvious sig of the gang moulding, which he different versions back up. But it looks like the changing colours from prototype in the cosells to actual toys show what else is ganged. Very little on Road Rocket changes, the chest flap, waist and shoulders I think.

I've always disliked the red gloves on Road Pig, it feels like it's the wrong bit of the toy being accented. The head I don't mind so much. The upside down windshield in robot mode has always annoyed me too, just looks odd. If the single screw that held it in placed allowed it to pivot I think it would look quite cool if the windshield could pivot up in front of it's face Much prefer the Road Rocket mould, though I would of liked an all black one. Windshield aside Road Pig just looks clunky in robot mode. And I *HATE* the nam, just used to secure the trademark on the GI Joe Dreadnok. I think I've owned all of the released TF versions of these at some point - definitely the RiD, long since gone, and the Robotmasters, sitting here beside me. I have *probably* owned the G2 originals but I can't be sure. I know I had the standard versions of the Microman bikes sans riders in a lot some years back - tmukhub.proboards.com/post/8195/thread says 2008 !!!!!!!!!! - can't remember if I sold them on or not!

Of course, these toys are actually Ninjas according to their moniker on the U.S. Packaging.
NINJA laser Cycles. And from the heads (particularly Roadpig), you can see it.
