Black is too easy! Loads of black toys! Eh? We've had Prowl, Jazz, Red Alert, Streetwise, Breakdown... loads of white cars. Can't think of any black cars prior to Runabout. Martin

Thought of one... Scamper.
Pretty sure Metroplex was out in the UK before the Battlechargers.
(But also two more white cars - Wheeljack and Tailgate.)

Also, the TF Wiki reckons Runamuck's a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If that's true, then Runamuck's closer to Knight Rider than Runabout, despite the colour scheme. Martin Yep, apparently they are. These were not cars that I saw on the road much where I lived, and there was a particular model of Sirocco which had a similar silhouette to the Battlecharger's altmodes. With said car - in silver-grey- being one of the favourite cars of the Middle Middle and Upper Middle Class in Stirling at the time it became forever associated with Runamuck and Runabout in my mind. To the extent that there is still a bit of my mind which takes Runamuck as "light grey Sirocco" for some reason. It's cars - not my specialist subject really. I'm generally much better at Aerialbot and Decepticon Jet spotting. :-) Karl

Runabout, on the other hand, is apparently a Lotus Turbo Esprit, a completely different make of car to Runamuck.

No, they are different toys, slightly different shapes (Runamuck has a more pointed front), and they have different heads too. The designers just chose two very similar real-world cars and made toys out of them that transform in exactly the same way.

The instructions show the different shapes more clearly, after the colours have been stripped away: Martin

Shockprowl - Prime's Roller was blue or grey, but Motormaster's black scout car was also called Roller. Runaground! Did we do that already? No we didn't, that's a good one. Martin
