Oddly, when G1 Autobot Speedstream in the UK became G2 Decepticon Deluge in the US, they gave him new box art mimicking Mirage's G1 box art. Martin

It is MAD. 3 reused names and none of them end up on the same toy they were originally applied to

Much as I want to vote for Speedstream (actual F1 car, realistic deco, even the right race number) I don't know if I can because someone decided he actually needed two race numbers, and that's annoying.

The Laurel Wreath underneath the number 1 makes me think it's a sort of Champions marking rather than a race number?

I want a Mirage repaint in those colours! Oddly, when G1 Autobot Speedstream in the UK became G2 Decepticon Deluge in the US, they gave him new box art mimicking Mirage's G1 box art. Martin Of course that isn't the only point the Mirage art would be taken out the drawer to be recoloured around then.... tfwiki.net/wiki/Mirage_(G1)/toysMirage *eventually got a G2 toy as a Gobot And he would have got another but for the fickle finger of fate cancelling the G2 Flipchangers That's the MW version, I don't believe the G2 Flipchanger colours have ever been revealed..... That toy eventually gets the original Mirage colours and looks superb

I'd never noticed the Crocodile/Aligator deco on that G2 art before.... With those details and those colours, do you know who he is? Skullcruncher!

The Laurel Wreath underneath the number 1 makes me think it's a sort of Champions marking rather than a race number? This is what I think. He's based on the FW14B, which was the car Nigel Mansell drove in 1992, race number 5. Mansell won his one and only F1 World Title in that car and year, but didn't return to contest it the next year. Only the current World Champion carries the race number 1. So someone at Hasbro was a fan, and as a tribute to Nigel gave 'his' car both the number it ran under, and the one it would have run under the next year. This is my Mad Theory TED talk, thank you for coming.

TFWiki's Color Changers articles further draw attention to the following: Aquaspeeders Deluge's Bio www.tfu.info/1993/Autobot/Deluge/deluge.htm"If we don't finish the job and flatten them - we might as well not be in the fight at all."
A vital cog in the vast Autobot battle machine. Can endure the most extreme battle conditions and still fight fearlessly to the last. Ties up all the loose ends as he mops up the action behind the troops. As a tough vehicle will take on any endurance challenge and defend with devastating water power. Is just as deadly as a robot. G2 Color Changers Gobots Bio www.tfu.info/1993/Autobot/Gobots/gobots.htm"If we don't finish the job and flatter them - we might as well not be in the fight at all."
He's a vital cog in the vast Autobots battle machine and can endure the most extreme conditions while fighting without fear. Behind the lines, he ties up all the loose ends by mopping up enemies. With his devastating water power, he's a tough vehicle and ready for any endurance challenge. And as a robot, he is equally as deadly. Stormtrooper Drench's Bio www.tfu.info/1993/Decepticon/Drench/drench.htm"A well run campaign is my greatest pleasure."
A bully, a tyrant and universally hated. Must have his own way at all times or takes hideous revenge. But indispensible at coordinating the unit with grim efficiency. As a car, long and low with cunningly concealed water fireing capabilities. As a robot this converts to extra-reach firing power. G2 Color Changers Jetstorm's www.tfu.info/1993/Decepticon/Jetstorm/jetstorm.htm"The best thing in life is sweet revenge."
He is a bully, a tyrant, and universally hated because he tries to get his way all the time, if he doesn't he becomes extremely vengeful. However, he is indispensable at coordinating the unit with grim efficiency. As a car, he stays long and low with cunningly concealed water firing capabilities that covert to "extra reach" firing power in robot form.

Further.... Aquaspeeder Jetstorm www.tfu.info/1993/Autobot/Jetstorm/jetstorm.htm"Give me more action! It's no fun unless I can see the whites of their eyes."
Young and impetuous. His love of excitement hides a serious intelligence. Amazing skill in devising hair-raising new defense methods. As a vehicle, aquapower makes him a formidable opponent. As a robot uses it to defend with courage and accuracy. G2 Color Changer Drench www.tfu.info/1993/Autobot/Drench/drench.htm"Give me more action! It's no fun unless I can see the whites of their eyes."
He's young and impetuous with a love for excitement that hides his serious, intelligent side. He has amazing skill in devising hair-raising new defense methods. As a vehicle, aqua-power makes him a formidable opponent. As a robot, he uses it to defend with courage and accuracy. Stormtroopers Hydrahead www.tfu.info/1993/Decepticon/Hydradread/hydradread.htm"Let me study the battle plans. I'll think up something really unpleasent - and then make it even nastier."
A wierdly twisted mind. He devises hideous attack methods that can astonish even the most veteran Decepticons. Always in a world of his own, plotting something horrible. As a car, surprises with fast-action water power. Transforms into an equally well-armed attacking robot. G2 Color Changer Deluge www.tfu.info/1993/Decepticon/Deluge/deluge.htm"Let me study the battle plans. I'll think up something really unpleasant - and then make it even nastier."
With a twisted mind, he devises hideous attack methods that can astonish even veteran Decepticons! He lives in a world of his own, horribly plotting his next move. He can surprise with fast-action water power as a car, and convert to an equally well-armed attack robot.

Hopefully the table above should make it clear.
The four US G2 Color Changers are repaints of the Aquaspeeders married to the bios of two of the Aquaspeeders and two of the Stormtroopers with the names of two of the Aquaspeeders and one of the Stormtroopers. Plus a name which is a trademark of a (then) recent acquisition which winds me up everytime it gets used in Transformers.
