Have to go with Blackarachnia on this one - and not at all because of the TV show, because she doesn't look anything like her animation model. Mostly it's because although Buzzsaw is certainly more eye-catching, he's also a bit too garish and rubbish.

I really want to vote for Buzzsaw and Ive just realised its because its one of the few (non mutant or fox kids repaints) western Beast toys that Ive never handled. Technically Tigertron is another but I have the Takara one which has been opened and played with.

Next time you're here Andy I'll show you my US Buzzsaw cos he's great. Buzzsaw is really different between his western and Japanese versions And to be honest none of the pictures I've seen ever do the western version justice. They make it look like a clashing mess but somehow in the plastic it works! The Japanese version otoh just looks muted and dull in comparison. The plastic changes, intended to make Blackarachnia look more like her show self (but let's be honest, silver/grey shoulders is not her defining feature!), take the life out of Buzzsaw. The western Blackarachnia has grown on me over the years but the Buzzsaw looks fab. Gets my vote

the Buzzsaw looks fab. Gets my vote The only thing against Buzzsaw is that his existence probably put the kibosh on anyone doing an official BW Bumblebee. Swap the green & purple for black, with a yellow painted head, and you'd be there. I would have paid money for that..... ..... and for a Gold version with the heads painted blue!

ILLEGAL POLL! Probably. No idea why.
These all look like great little toys, except maybe for Rhino, who's a little awkward. Whilst Panther looks like it might be the best figure, it's Beetle that's got my attention - the colours look good, and it's kind of got a (Machine Wars/TM2) Blackarachnia vibe to it. So Beetle gets my vote.

Manta Ray! He looks like a super hero (or villain). Panther looks a lot better here than he actually is.

ILLEGAL POLL! Probably. No idea why. Blame AndyK and (I think) Ralph who insisted they were part of the main BW line and should be included. I resisted..... until I saw the opportunity that doing this poll offered.

They are absolutely real Transformers toys. More so than those RED things.
I remember when Beast Wars was new and I had my first figures (Rattrap, Primal Bat & Croc Megs) and then some kind soul from America sent me Manta Ray and a box. He was a truly prized possession at the time.

It also looks like a teleporting robot had materialized in the same space as a Rhino, killing the poor creature instantly and the robot's body is now constantly stuck inside it's corpse. But worse, the robot doesn't seem to care.

Finishes tomorrow when we'll get into the Year 2 Basics and a couple of the odder decisions Hasbro Europe made in 1997.... Hasbro? Making questionable distributon decisions? Who'd've thought it... This one has to go to Airazor for me, simply on account of her being the one basic that I bought back in the day. Her design caught my eye then, and it catches my eye still now. Helps that she's also in the show and has a flapping wing action - can never resist a little flapping action.
