Cybershark has never been repainted but as well as appearing as himself in the Japanese orioginal BW line he has not one but TWO Japanese remoulds: as BWII Cyberbeast Hellscream & BW Neo Sharp EdgeBonecrusher is repainted as BWII BighornK-9, itself a remould of Wolfang, becomes BWII Cyberbeast Max-B

I don't know why, but K-9 has never looked that interesting to me. Cybershark's a contender, because shark, but I've never been that keen on his robot mode head. So it'll have to be Bonecrusher. Although I've never handled one, who can say "no" to a big chunk of cow?

As I said above Of the Energon Chip Deluxes Cybershark & Jetstorm were introduced in early 1997 Euro Deluxe wave 2, which was BW Deluxe wave 1. Cybershark was 2 per case, the others were 1 per case. All bar Cybershark and Jetstorm were in the show, so the rest of the case sold significantly better and the non show characters started shelfwarming, Cybershark to a very significant degree. Then about halfway through the year the Euro w3/UK w2 case update happened: Out go the remaining Euro w1 deluxe, in come a new load of non show deluxe. My memory is that none of this case flew off the shelves after the initial buying frenzy from the toy fans. Indeed it had a tendency to sit quite badly while the earlier case, with it's show deluxe, would occasionally come back into stock and sell out quickly. But nothing, NOTHING, sat like Cybershark, who was in BOTH UK cases, did. Which is a great shame because he's brilliant, possibly my favourite BW dlx. Yes his beast mode and TF is a little simple for a deluxe. In fact, and I told you you'd need the dried frog pills today, it bears such a strong resemblance to the Flipchanger basic TF for Razorbeast & Rattrap that I reckon it could quite easily be a Flipchanger that was upsized and the original gimmick removed. But I don't care, I love it, and he gets my vote this week.

Cybershark for me, just edging out Bonecrusher, but both of them a long way ahead of K-9

Because he can't fire his nose off like a missile.
Also the rest of us are not voting because he's named the same as something on DW.....
.... I suppose we'd better check while we're here: K-9/Canine ?

Its probably why I like it so much, but Bonecrusher is such a chunky fun character. So I had to vote cow. I've not thought about it before, probably because its a very long time since Ive given bonecrusher much thought, but hes got more of a Takara exclusive mould vibe than most Kenner toys.

Not quite as heavy on the pills as I was expecting. Maybe it was a basic that they decided to upscale because everyone knows how popular sharks are (oh dear). Or at the very least it used the same design philosophy to turn something very non-bipedal into a poseable, bipedal robot, so there's definitely some inspiration taken there, whatever the case.

Let's talk about the cow. The beast is OK, if a little static, but you can say that about a lot of beast modes. The action feature is fun, pulling back on the tail, but you could have launched the missile without the entire top half of the beast springing up! The TF is where it really starts to go wrong: the sides of the beast are two massive panels that just get in the way in robot mode. The connection between head/missile mechanism and robot body is tenuous at best and that's after you've figured out how to lock them together. The robot mode doesn't look too bad from the front..... but side on, Oh Dear www.seibertron.com/transformers-toys/view/beast-wars/bonecrusher/4262/2/49/The launcher mechanism sticks out of the top of his back, he couldn't turn left or right without fear of hitting someone! The look deteriorates when you try to use the launcher and that's if it stays locked in place! Trying to do anything with the arms involves hitting the sides of the beast hanging off his back. It's not good. In short, the cow is a cowpat.
