Three Haslab projects at once, just after another one finished and with large payments due just before Christmas...was always going to be a hard sell.

Dropping all of these at year end certainly seems to have been something of a mistake... Three big price-tag items (with no payment plan) dropping just before Christmas and a month after another big ticket Haslab item (especially when there is a crossover of fans for each of the 4 Haslabs) was always an idiotic move. I would have went for the Skystriker, but not this close to Chrimbo and not just after forking out £180 for a Victory Saber. If it had had a payment plan they would have got me but then it doesn't look as attractive a set without the stretch goal items it is now unlikely to reach...so maybe not. Haslab strikes me as a once a quarter thing at most. -Ralph

Woah, they literally acknowledge that part of the reason people buy limited run crowd funding products is FOMO in the Ghostbusters Proto Pack video. In a world of environmental concerns and resources that are not infinite, is this really how we want people to be motivated to buy things?

Haslab are going to look pretty silly if both of those fail. I bet the SW one won't. One way or another that'll fund.

Why does every single Haslab need to be absolutely huge, overly expensive, and super flashy?
Why can't they experament with smaller things that appeal more to focused collectors/completionists?
Like a twenty dollar Kingdom BW Accessory pack? Gut guns and tail guns for Cheetor and Shadow Panther. Tail gun for Tigatron. Dinobot's club, Primal's morning star. Megatron's rubber ducky, raw energon crystals, and just various other missing or notable accessories. Tier reward is that they're fully painted.
Another small scale idea is similar, but with Generations scaled human figurines. Mega Bloks minifigures are borderline perfect, something similar with moderate posability and reusable parts would be pretty damn amazing. Wouldn't appeal to everyone but it'd be exciting to enough of the fandom that it'd fund.

I mean this would work amazingly for Ghostbusters, too. The anchor being one or two full sized figures of notable ghosts that like... Wouldn't justify a retail figure. Like the stroller ghost, with a couple simple small ghosts, then add more with tier unlocks.
Or the containment unit would be another perfect smaller scale haslab project.

Those all seem great ideas. And might be a way of actually getting, say, some of the IDW characters as toys that a lot of people want, but apparently not enough people to justify a mass retail release. Or even some of the more obscure Marvel characters - I could get a Big Red this way! Smaller would certainly be more interesting.

No, that's more a Selects thing. Haslab I think is more about premium price points for figures that won't sell hugely at retail. They're just wanting to know numbers up front so they don't overproduce something very expensive that retailers won't order a lot of.

In the 5 days since the Rancor update they havent added 500 backers. And they arent even half way too tier one.
While I dont think Hasbro will let it fail I can also see more backers dropping out if they dont think they'll get the later tiers.

The Skystriker is looking a bit healthier, but then Hasbro gave it a much better upgrade.
Despite not collecting Joe, ever, if there was a payment plan I think I might have ended up getting one.

Same. Lack of payment plan meant I couldn't do it straight after VS and this close to Chrimbo.
I suspect the Rancor may get a Unicronesque extension for time. Expect a "We've listened!" post.

Skystriker may scrape Tier 1 (though it will be interesting to see if it fails at the last moment if some backers pull out if it looks like they're not going to get the package with all the tiers).
It's not looking good for the Rancor.
