Never let it be said that Andy doesn't provide a good spread.

I thought this was a great zine, and really impressed how quickly Andy pulled it together! Also really impressed by the blindingly pink cover!
Great to see art from Tony as well!
Obviously it's mostly set up for what's to come (and very excited about that, and info on how we can all join in!) but it's good set up! Best bits in my mind is the Megatron stuff - glad he's not just going back to being comically evil, and it's all interesting!

Very enjoyable. I like the new Prowl-Grimlock-Soundwave dynamic and the use of Soundwave's mind-reading powers. Also intrigued by the Tales of Earth continuation, which appears to nod to the wider Marvel universe at the start, though only G.I. Joe are explicitly acknowledged. Hawk appears rather shouty, channelling Circuit-Smasher from RG1 perhaps? Or did the wind change and freeze his face in that expression? I'll be interested to find out why the death of Spike is regarded as a war crime (in comparison to the destruction of the whole city), when he snuck on the Ark and blew it up voluntarily. Very curious as to where you're going with this time delay theory, and why it is regarded as so important compared to the San Francisco problem. Artwork superb as always. Martin

Glad you enjoyed it Martin.
I was inspired by your recent fiction to be more mindful of the Transformers place in the Marvel Universe as a whole. I thought having GI Joe front and centre would make sense, given their involvement in G2. Given the events in San Francisco - in the RG2 timeline there would be no disbanding of them, just a change of orders.
San Francisco would still be considered a war crime, but not one they would attribute to Megatron but the Cybertronians. As to the technicality of why Spike's death is considered a war crime. From a legal standpoint he wouldn't be considered as combat personnel. He was forced to take up the command helmet following the death of Galen and repeatedly walked away from the role. Forced into it due to circumstance.
As for why it's important - well more for symbolic reasons than anything else. The San Francisco problem is one that can be solved but will take years. I wanted it left like that, to make sure the human/transformer dynamic is irrevocably altered.
As for Hawk...well next issue might just shed some light on the subject of why he is so angry.

Cheers, Andy. I have dodged the difficulty of humans wanting their pound of Decepticon flesh in my post-'Another Time and Place' (non-G2) continuity by letting the humans have their way with all the Decepticons unlucky enough to end up deactivated on Earth at the end of issue #80, including Galvatron, Shockwave and Starscream, and then having the Autobots insist that lesser Decepticons stay away from Earth and Nebulos forever on pain of death if they want peace. I can see how it becomes a thornier issue in a universe where the Warworld has bombarded the Earth from orbit - and that continued for a few issues after Megatron deposed Bludgeon - and the Autobots then pal up with Megatron. Generation 2 had the Decepticons do far worse things on Earth than they ever did in the original Marvel series. I think Klo was the only planet that had major civilian casualties in the original comic, and all the Decepticons seriously involved in that got comprehensively killed by the Autobots in 'Another Time and Place'.
Yes, you have the Autobots in a more difficult position post-G2, if they want to make peace with both the humans and the Deceps.

It's quite handy that Megatron was not directly responsible for the Warworld, or San Fran so it gives me some wiggle room to play with.
I felt that a broken relationship with the humans was the way to go. Again the Autobots can't really get what they want through no fault of their own. It was a trope in the old series and felt the way to go.
While CG2 casts a long shadow, I have enough that I can play around with going forward as the ending to G2 as it was feels ultimately hollow. YAAAY we have won, when really if that expansionist empire has been going for millions of years than really you've not scratched the surface yet.
They still know so little about the Empire and will that prove fatal...

RG2 is fine, no spare copies of the Ladybird book I am afraid.
No monies needed. You just need to make a donation of £1.00 in the name of ToyFU to Mary's Meals when you get your fanzine.
