To me there has always been a difference with small/Mini Transformers toys.
Some are just miniture robots/vehicles - such as the Mini Autobots, a lot of the legends and Micromasters. They come across as being a different scale to the larger toys they should interact with.
Others look more like shorter characters alongside the bigger ones - the Throttlebots come to mind here - they are the same 'size' as the Mini Autobots but work better because they come across as being in the same scale - like the new WFC minibots. Which I think is why they work so well.
Any of that make sense? I guess it has to do with proportions. If a short character has a larger head or dumper body then it looks more natural in my eyes.

Yes you make sense. Mini-Autobots closer in size to the bigger cars just looks better.
Damn it.

Of course it doesn't matter because they are all robots, but I feel it looks more natural for smaller robots to have larger heads (or the same size) as the normal sized guys. The bigger the robot, the slightly smaller the head should scale too. Titan Scorponok head scales fine to his body on his own, but as a giant character, it looks slightly too big.
I now remember the panel from Target 2006 where big head Magnus yells at tiny head Hound.

Oh I've got the fear now. Hoofer must be opened tomorrow. I reserve the right to stick with the mechanic studio one. I really like him.

All the minibots to that scale, with toy faces? I would be so in. They must have toy arms and claws too! Yes! Sunbow-accuracy has had its time, we demand a return to original toy accuracy! Well, I do.

This is one of the reasons why I love Maketoys' Pandinus - the head is indeed very small, but it just emphasises how massive and hench the rest of him is.

Nnnnnnnnggghhhhhhhh. He's... ...he's... Too big. TOO BIG. I know what you mean, Pins. And the more you fiddle with him, the bigger he gets! (STOP BEING RUDE, PHIL, I MEANT THAT IN ITS PUREST SENSE!) .....It's the future though. Huffer is THE FUTURE.

Also, his robot mode is too muscular, chunky. He's not a minibot. He looks really good, but he doesn't look like Huffer.
Ironic, because it you compare him to that legends Prime repaint he's a million times better. I suppose the fact that the Earthrise figures have been so good has really raised the bar on expectations.

When I put my Six and Five infront of the WFC Autobot Cars they looked... out of scale.
Not compared to the original toys or the cartoon, no, in those terms they looked spot on.
But realistically.... (whatever that means).... I dunno. It just didn't look right.
Warpath, Cliffjumper, now Huffer....
The 'Minis' fit better being bigger. THEY FIT BETTER BEING BIGGER.
And THAT is the Mini-Autobot Marathon.
But it's tough. Tough to get your '84 head 'round.
Nothing's the same anymore.

Kindom Huffer is definitely stylised compared to the original and character model. They both had their own odd charms.
Kingdom Huffer has more of a warrior hero build rather than the odd proportions we are used to seeing. I see it as it's when he gets an upgrade.
But then new Hoist and Grapple still have their wonky robot mode charm of the character models.

His gun is too gun-like I've realised, "We're not fighters like they are!". But thinking of him as an 'up-grade' helps; maybe he upgraded himself, and gave himself a nice new gun...
He's a beef-cake, and does lack some of the charm of more none beef-cake versions of Huffer.
But he's such a good figure! I can't put him down!

Of course, don't forget that Huffer was actually one of the strongest of the original 1984 Ark crew. Probably third behind Prime and Brawn.
A lot if people say he is a background character, but he was quite prominent and important to the story in the early issues.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of his gun. Too much like a shotgun when a pistol would have suited him better, I think. Aside from that, I have no problems with him, he looks fine to me.

Was Gears an 8?But he's certainly a tough guy, should be an 8. Certainly looks like an 8 now! And Huffer is one of the most crucial members of the '84ers. The epitome of 'not a warrior by choice', but does his duty regardless, and genuinely struggles to cope with the situation. A brilliant character of great depth.

I didn't realise when I took these that half of them are out of focus. I'm trying to work out the state of play.

Taller Huffer works better.
He needs a Bomber Bill figure to moan at.

It's the Mechanic Studio 3P one. Like the other Huffer. They've only done Huffer, Pipes, Gears and Swerve like that though - designed to fit with Generations as opposed to the Legends scale Mech Planet stuff. He's really nice.
If they'd made his middle face bit replaceable and provided a toy version it'd be perfect.

Is the Mini-Autobot Marathon run on the Dinobot Road? This is a situation that I currently worry about too. I have not yet opened Kingdom Hoofer because I fear he will be TOO BIG. Surely little Huff is no bigger than Cliffjumper? He's a diddler, tiddly widdly. If you mean the Pottop Windy, he was amazing at the time, now looks RIGHT out of place. I will have to update my THE SIX photo this weekend once Hoofer is unleashed. Good advice about the old Windcharger. I'll hold off unless I can find one ridiculously cheap. Don't think I ever owned one. I have a spare (but opened) scout class RtS Windcharger if you want him. Scales better with modern deluxes. THAT'S WHAT I DUN BEEN SAYIN' Also no promises but I can try to find a netflix bumblebee for you. Though my favorite walmart is now no longer an option. They stopped enforcing mask wearing. So mu hunting ground has shrunk.

If you've got a spare RTS Windy I'd be very grateful, thank you! Fantastic! I'll pay you postage. If you would keep your optics open that'd be great. You're a star CJ!!!

Yeah, MTS Huff is too small next to the new Bumblebee and Cliffjumper. Kingdom is -too- large, it's true, a smidge shorter and less beefy would have been preferable. But I love the figure, he's a truck so should be biggish. MTS Gears is superb, like their Huffer, but hopefully the delayed Kingdom Gears will appear in due course.

Kingdom Huffer is so buff, he is wearing a ripped vest!
If it weren't for Huffer's moaning about Sparkplug, an argument would not have ensued, so Jazz wouldn't have flamethrowered a heart attack at Sparkplug, who wouldn't have needed Ratchet to take him to a hospital. If Ratchet hadn't have been away from the Ark when Shockwave took over, he wouldn't have been able to rescue them, with the help of the Dinobots. Who, I might add, Huffer told us all about. Prime should be giving him his Matrix, let alone his trailer.

Not sure on the RTS Windcharger. I think the look is just too dated.
