This does not support your mad theory. It merely makes sense to put a contemporary spin-off on the last disc as an extra. Or should Death of the Doctor always go after The Green Death because it is on the latter's SE DVD release.
QED.

It is the 2nd weakest series of DW for me though Bidmead fascinates me.

Game of two halves for me. First two stories are poor, though Leisure Hive sounds amazing, one of the best Soundtracks. Things improve during Full Circle/State of Decay, Warriors Gate is AMAZING and like nothing else then two crackers to finish with.

LOGOPOLIS is not good. Admit it to yourself. We all loved it because of the Target book.

What's that you say BBC? A live internet lesson 2pm Friday on light for 11 year olds with a Doctor Who theme? My class of 11 year olds are doing light with me in science at the moment. So that's this week's lesson planned... Did you do it? -Ralph

Logopolis is great, and I've thought so ever since the first viewing in 81. The book I can't remember.

Well, from a Doctor Who point of view the content was minimal - a couple of quick clips of Jodie talking to camera to explain something was about it.
The lesson was basically about planets and orbits, with the idea that a rogue planet enters our solar system and takes up an orbit that matches the Earth, thus permanently blocking the sun. So there was a bit about the difference between transparent, translucent and opaque and how light travels in straight lines and can be reflected, meaning a giant space reflector needed to be made to get the sun's light round the planet. Then the Doctor worked out how to get rid of the planet. There was an awful lot of jumping about needed to create the energy to power the system, which meant for the kids it was as much PE as it was science.
I think if you had a year 3/4 class and they hadn't done any of this topic it would be a pretty good introduction, but at this point in the term my class have covered everything the lesson wanted to teach them so they didn't learn anything. It tried to cover all the objectives for this topic in 40 minutes, whereas we've spent six weeks or so doing it all in more detail. My kids were building periscopes a month back, so a two minute explanation that light can be reflected off a mirror was superfluous.

That's more like it.
Two good episodes in a row. Funnily enough neither written by Chibnall...

Hmmm. I see the overnights are in for #9 and if the plus 7 figures follow through then we've had 9 episodes in a row where each one has rated lower than the one before. This has happened twice before with 6 eps in a row doing this (Hartnell and Smith) but not 9. An unusual pattern as each series usually settles into an average number after the opener with a few ups and downs each side.
Can't be healthy to lose viewers *every* week. We're still quite a bit above Capaldi's last season but this is not a good sign.
No the show is not doomed but interesting to note. I think the show has picked up a lot in the back half after a poor first half.

I am finally caught up via iTunes; I held off because my daughter wanted to see it with it being a female Doctor and all (so far all she knows of Doctor Who is Matt Smith's debut, which she really liked), but the first episode turned out to be too scary for her. It does feel targeted older than previous series, which I kind of find a shame in a way, as I would have liked to share it with her.
Myself, I'm really enjoying it, though I can see how it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.
- love the new title music and sequence, easily my favourite since 2005 - incidental music also feels much refreshed - Walsh is a big surprise! Generally I like these companions, though Ryan could do with a bit of development - it looks _great_ - I'm enjoying the apparent lack of any kind of arc - Kevin Eldon!!!
I'm so grateful for how refreshed it feels and how it didn't turn out bad that I'm not going to point out the few flaws I've found with it. On average it's my favourite modern season yet.

My feeling is it fixes a lot of what really annoyed me about the last few series but breaks some of the other stuff I liked. It doesn't have the massive highs or cratering lows of the later Moffat series, but it's traded that in for basically being 'fine' week after week. I like the vibe more than the individual stories, and whilst it is still a thumbs up from me, I'd be annoyed if a second series doesn't build on this.
A lot of the scripts feel really messy and unfocused, almost like first drafts. I like all the characters but they clearly don't have enough to give everyone. Ryan could be cut and there'd be no change. Bradley Walsh is amazing though.
I like the focus on historical stories, but do wish they'd be brave enough to do a pure historical.
Conversely, the lack of decent monsters is hurting it. Don't mind that they're not using classic monsters, but there's not been anything really iconic or indeed, interesting enough.
Also all the 'next time' trailers they've had are awful. No idea what whoever put them together was thinking of, none of them have been interesting or had any sort of hook.

I think I agree with most of that. I have a feeling that cratering lows get to me more than they used to, maybe due to how restricted my viewing time is these days, so I’m happy for the average quality to have been hoisted up a bit even if the highs are missing.
Just googled to find out if an OST is in the works, and apparently it is today’s news! https://www.reddit.com/r/gallifrey/comments/a2wmti/doctor_who_series_11_soundtrack_tracklist_and/
I’ll be getting that.

The fact I don't notice the incidental music is wonderful to me as I can still hear Clara's theme in my nightmares.
Its an odd one, I'd agree its mostly a more grown up show and yet the historicals especially Rosa feel like they were made to teach history to kids. Or maybe they think they need to spell things out for hte most of the adult audience.
Overall Im liking Chibnalls exec producing, but his scripted episodes do seem to be the more clunky ones.

Thinking about it, I haven't been haunted by "Its a Small World" for a while, I wonder if Claras theme took its place. In that case I begrudgingly may have to thank Murray Gold for dislodging it. Two decades was two decades too long.

Or maybe they think they need to spell things out for hte most of the adult audience. That's interesting, so far Rosa is the episode I'd thought would be most appropriate to watch with her. Nothing really scary, and the meddling time traveler angle, even if it would be nice to have a pure historical, possibly adds a bit of a hook for the young 'uns.
